Shiny Shoes Make An Outfit

Dress: Woodberry Aubergine Print Perfect Faux Wrap Dress by Leota (size 4L) via Gwynnie Bee
Shoes: Fellowships: Esser by John Fluevog
Earring & Necklace: Wendy Baker
Bracelet: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-70
This dress just seemed to be the average floral dress...but as soon as I saw it, I was in love...the color combination is spectacular...burgundy, purple, pink, red...on a navy background...so pretty. The fit is fantastic, like all Leota...but I have to pin the neckline on these perfect faux wraps to keep them from gaping open & looking sloppy.
And even though there technically isn't any true red in the dress...I thought my new Fluevogs were a lovely combination...shiny shoes make an outfit.
Aren't those colors gorgeous together?!? And my Wendy necklace adds in a bit of warmth...
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Alkaline, UD eyeshadow in Alchemy & Alien, Mahogany lipliner by Estēe Lauder, Dubonnet Amplified lipstick from MAC, & In A Gingersnap nail polish by Essie.
I had forgotten I'd preordered this Nick Cave record...so I was surprised when it showed up...yay for surprise mail. Saturday Night, Planet Earth, 5 hours of new wave songs...sooooo good. Some delicious wine from Kate's wine cellar, currently housed in our basement. David writes reviews of the wine we drink for Kate & they are hilarious~ Pop rocks and Mr. Pibb after first pouring, with high heat. Sounds terrible, but somehow it isn’t. Within minutes the heat blows off, and gives way to a kind of fullsome indulgence not unlike an Italian soda made with high-end gelato. The body of an amarone, with the flirtatious welcome of a beaujolais nouveau, but salacious, not shy. Your blind date shows up in a Bugatti, and it’s Ethan Hawke — and he’s DTF. It’s a lot to take in, but who’s not getting in that Bugatti?
Verdict: I am so getting in that Bugatti. 93.

Sunday's with Glenn Crytzer...this week was all songs from the year 1922. This roasted beet & bacon spinach salad was sensational...all farmers' market produce. Urban Decay was having a 30% off sale...so I got a bunch of their eyeliners that I didn't already have. I love them...plus, a free gift of stuff I'll probably never use.
After ~2 month absence...The Lowest Pair play an online show...their music makes me so happy. dj ellafine playing some goth-y tunes on her birthday. I gasped when I saw these red Fluevog Truths: Bekkie...the color is so rich & the shiny against suede is just marvelous...pictures do not do them justice.
A used pair of Fluevogs via Fluemarket...Fellowships: Cleo in the orange/pink color way. And a few new necklaces with matching earrings from the always amazing Gayle from Green Goddess

Floral Embroidery

Dress: Floral Embroidery Navy Dress by eShakti (size 26) via Gwynnie Bee
Shoes: Basic Editions, thrifted
Earring: etXarte
Necklace: Colleen Toland
Bracelet: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-70
I went down a size to a 26, but this eShakti dress was still too large on top for me. I could have fixed that by wearing a cardigan, but I thought the embroidery on the sleeves was too pretty to cover up. Also, it's not that cold here in Wisconsin just yet. The rest of the dress was a good fit & great for a wear...all those bright cheery flowers popping all over made me smile. And...the heavy t-shirt cotton spandex made this dress cute comfortable loungewear...with deep pockets.
I bought these shoes several years ago at Savers...but this is my first time wearing them...the flower colors were just right, even if the black background wasn't.
Why couldn't they have added a bit of embroidery on the bottom of the skirt? Or back of the neckline?
My make-up with this outfit included...NYX eyeliner in Deep Blue; Misfit, Legend, & Fran eyeshadow by Kat von D; UD lipliner in 714; No-Tell Motel lipstick from UD; & OPI nail polish in Red Heads Ahead.
A trip to the beauty supply with David. My new favorite online DJ night...Saturday's Late Bar Chicago...Planet Earth, retro new wave alternative classics from the late 70s into the 80s...so nostalgic. And my Sunday staple...Glenn Crytzer, working their way through the 20s.
Rainbow Girls covering Neil Young's Harvest Moon. Another edition of UnderCovered, this time covering songs by Amy Winehouse. And Stonewall Was A Riot t-shirt from The Philadelphia Liberation Center's Patreon. Carsie Blanton mentioned them in one of her livestreams & I joined.
More online entertainment, because that is the only kind there is right now...Michael Waite, dj ellafine, & another round of artists from Green Note...with Resonant Rouges.
My Kickstarter t-shirt from Jane Rose & The Deadend Boys, Chris DuPont playing via The Ark, & Rye behind me...grateful for not being harassed by Violet.

AFP Live in New Zealand

Dress: Burgundy Embossed Fit & Flare Dress by Connected Apparel (size 24) via Gwynnie Bee
Leggings: LuLaRoe (size TC2) via eBay
Shoes: Clarks, thrifted
Earring: etXarte
Necklace with ribbon: Etsy, gift from Kate
Long Necklace & Bracelet: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-70
This boring, cheaply made dress was good for one wear...I mean, I just sit at home doing teletherapy. I adored the color & texture of this dress...the fit was alright, too big in the shoulders though. My least favorite part was the lining peeking out along the neckline...at least it was a matching color.
What I liked most about this outfit were the leggings & matching shoes...which no one saw on my video calls.
This year has really aged me...you could say it was turning 50, but I think all the fun I usually have keeps me young. I expect to reverse age in 2021 with the return of fun.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Alkaline; Alchemy, Bondage, & Last Sin eyeshadow by UD; Estēe Lauder lipliner in Mahogany; NYX lipstick in Temptress & Knock Out; & Midnight in Moscow nail polish from OPI.
First, I collect all the M's before moving on to the other letters in my name...I think this one is the winner. Milton performing with a member of Carsie's band & the premiere of APT's Nat Turner in Jerusalem.
Amanda Palmer! I had so many emotions go through me while watching this show live from New Zealand...where people are allowed to go about their normal lives, touching other people without fear. I cried from happiness, hope, remembrance...as well as being full of envy. I miss this.
Look...people all together in one room. I love AFP & am grateful for this concert existing...it gives me hope & something to look forward to.

The President Sings Amazing Grace

Dress: Sunset Purple Lavish Print Eliza Tie-Waist Dress by Leota (size 4L) via Gwynnie Bee
Tights: We Love Colors
Shoes: Born
Necklace & Bracelet: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-70
What a fun retro-y looking purple & orange flower print dress...I just adore these colors together. The fit was perfect, as it usually is in Leota dresses. The fabric seemed extra soft & the pockets were placed lower & were quite deep. I clearly need more purple & orange in my life.
We looked around Olbrich Gardens, but there wasn't really much color left...but this tall grassy stuff was pretty.
David bought me a bunch of nice supportive Elomi bras a while back...I wore some, then went back to a few Lane Bryant bras I found in my closet...why?! Because they were pretty & still had tags on them. But I noticed I didn't look very perky in my photos...so I got out a few new Elomi bras...& look how much better that is.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Voodoo, Huda Beauty Amethyst Obsessions eyeshadow palette, Mediteranee eyeshadow duo from Nars, NYX Liquid Suede lipstick in Foiled Again, Roxanne Buxom Lips by Bare Escentuals, & OPI nail polish in It's a Piazza Cake.
What would I do without online entertainment right now??? Truly, artists have gotten me through this year. I am eager to go to in person concerts again...but until that is safe...I will forever be grateful for all the musicians keeping me company at home. Michael Waite at the Marquette Maritime Museum playing songs to commemorate the anniversary of the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, Dan Rodriguez, djellafine, & a book talk.
Someone posted these gorgeous cardigans in a group I'm in, these have both since sold...but there is an Etsy shop full of pretty things.
Colleen Toland was having a sale (she still is, 20% off) & I needed some more fabulous flower jewelry in my life. Also, Sephora fall sale...which I did not need.
Look at those stunning Pat McGrath eyeshadows though. Some autumn fabric from Over the Selvage. This is my first order from them...& after I placed it, they made a post about the election & they lost several customers who were not happy with their political leanings...I told them it made me want to spend more money with them. Vintage pins...I am collecting the letters of my name to make a MESHEL necklace. Will I ever actually do it??? Well, it's an idea I have anyway.
Did you know that in 2015, after the Charleston church massacre, President Obama broke into singing Amazing Grace while giving a eulogy at one of the funerals? Someone wrote a song about it & I watched Kronos Quartet & Meklit performed it as part of a tribute to Pete Seeger. And...another trio of performers on Green Note...Awkward Family Portraits were my favorite.

Shoes: Rampage, thrifted
Earring: etXarte
Necklace & Bracelet: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-70
I'm always excited when GB sends an Effie's Heart dress my way...although I'm not a science person at all, so this print wasn't my thing. The fit & length were great...& of course, there were pockets.
The sugar skulls are more my kind of print.
My first time wearing this necklace...& I broke it when I took it off. My hair matches the dying leaves...
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Alkaline, Huda Beauty Ruby Obsessions eyeshadow palette, Russian Red lipstick by MAC, NYX Liquid Suede lipstick in Modern Maven, & The Great Pretender nail polish from Colors by Llarowe.
UnderCovered does songs of Leonard Cohen...
Our last outdoor visit with Angie, Freddie, & the doggies...& my shoes, uncovered.
Glenn Crytzer & members of his orchestra do songs from 1921, a gorgeous Miriam Haskell necklace I found on eBay, my monthly Boxy Charm, & pretty new nail polishes from ILNP.
My election result day celebration gift to myself...
