Final Fire Maple

Dress: Esther Tiered Tunic by Anthropologie (size 3x) via Nuuly (use my link & we both get $10 off)
Leggings: Torrid
Sandals: Born
All Jewelry: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 50-47-68
This tunic was fairly shapeless, but who cares? It was so soft & so comfortable...I couldn't stop wearing it. Also, the colors looked really good on me. The fit was great, but as a tunic, it most certainly needed to be worn with bottoms of some kind. Mine came to me rather worn looking & had a hole in it...this was the first time I have gotten anything from Nuuly in less than ideal shape.
I didn't have the perfect bottoms to go with this tunic, I would have preferred something without so much black...but they worked.
This was my first time wearing this vintage pencil pendant that I found years ago at a garage sale...& 2 earrings?! Who is this?!!
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Love Drug; UD eyeshadow in Relish, Spike, & Fireball; Becca lipliner in Blissful; NYX lipstick in 507, & Sunrise & The City nail polish by OPI.
UnderCovered looking back over all the shows they had in the past year. Glenn Crytzer Quartet playing their final SongBook Sessions with songs from 1944. Carsie Blanton & her boys playing tunes...I had to buy the shirt she was wearing...the front says: Fuck Fascism Never Fuck a Fascist & there is a cute drawing of her on the back.
I picked up some flowers from farmers' market, then David & I bought some more at a few local nurseries...to plant in our front yard & a few hanging baskets in back.
This was just a few weeks ago...but these flowers are already so much bigger now...
Chicks DJ-ing great music, some colorful flower pots we bought to put in the wagon (flowers die too easily in that shallow container), & we found a gorgeous tree we *had* to have for the backyard...it's a Final Fire Maple, which is a type of Japanese Maple.
Hi, Rye! More online DJs & my consultation to get LASIK surgery. Denied. Apparently, my corneas are a bit too thin relative to how terrible my vision is...so they just won't do it. I was extremely disappointed because I hate being near blind without my glasses. I really miss wearing contacts & I haven't been able to wear them for years because of my astigmatism. Or so I thought...I'm going to talk to my eye doctor about getting bifocal contacts when I see her in September as perhaps that's my issue. Old age.
Freddie is...cute! All the time. David made us Walleye & Angie made the most YUMMY cauliflower cheese casserole...& fresh asparagus. And we brought wine from Kate's cellar in our basement. Thursday night dinners are the best.

Easter Outside

Dress: Cap Sleeve Yellow Print Dress by Tiana B (size 3x) via Gwynnie Bee
Cardigan: Talbots (size 3x), thrifted
Leggings: Torrid (size 4x)
Shoes: Born
Earring & Bracelet: Wendy Baker
Photography: Super Boo, Kate, & Me
Stats: 5'7" 50-47-68
I adored the bright yellow lemon-like spring print of this dress...& that's where the love affair ended. It was too big & shapeless...it reminded me of a hospital gown. The fabric was flimsy & cheap feeling, the armholes were huge, & the cutout in back was too low (had to keep pulling my bra down). But...it looked like Easter, so I wore it anyway.
Dress I don't like? Throw all the lemons at it! Even this wall said lemons all over it.
If I had realized how frumpy I looked in this dress...I wouldn't have worn it. I never really know what I look like until I see photos. This is my first time wearing these shoes since brightening them up with shoe polish (duller version).
Last outfit photos before a much needed hair cut. I actually have a vintage Miriam Haskell lemon necklace that broke. Someday I will fix it, but I'm glad I didn't have it available to me because I prefer this brighter orange necklace...yellow & green wouldn't have stood out as much.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Mars; Grass, Candles, & Ten eyeshadow by Lime Crime; NYX lip liner in Orange County; MAC lipstick in Dozen Carnations; & Woodstock nail polish from Colors by Llarowe.
Ms. Siouxsie Sioux...always perfect. Mushrooms! I am in love with this dress from nooworks.
Friday nights...chick DJs. David made us a whole roasted snapper...it was delicious.
New Wave Saturdays. An Easter visit from the girlie & her beau...it was in the 70s & gorgeous outside.
Perhaps our next photo will be us touching each other?! Glenn Crytzer playing songs from 1939. In the late afternoon...more visitors for a casual Easter brunch. Angie made deviled eggs...my favorite!!!
We opened up a bottle of sparkling wine & a crisp white. I LOVE this picture of David...my husband is so sexy...even if he does hate having his picture taken. Angie blowing bubbles for Freddie. David made us Chilean sea bass & asparagus for our meal...but apparently I was so hungry, I forgot to take a shot. Angie baked these fabulous almond cookies, which made the most wonderful strawberry shortcake. I thought it was extra sweet of her to make something we could eat that is low carb (to control our diabetes). And lastly, I wore this dress to get the final PRP shot in my knee. Here's hoping it works.

All Dressed Up & Nowhere To Go

Dress: Green Velvet Slit Maxi Dress by Torrid (size 5x)
Shoes: Super Fine Cardinal by John Fluevog
Earring: etXarte
Necklace: Vintage Miriam Haskell, gift from David
Bracelet: Vintage via Grandma
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-70
I nearly wore this dress for NYE this year...you know, to stay home...but the blue dress won out because I thought it went better with this Miriam Haskell necklace David bought me...but it clearly looks better with this dress...don't you think? This dress was a bit too big on top & the armholes were enormous...but soooo luscious & elegant.
Gotta show off the Fluevogs! I was rather impressed that I could walk in these heels...considering I can't hardly walk. They were comfortable enough that I could have worn them out to dinner or to a play...when those things exist again...I am ready. This bodes well for all the Fluevog heels I've been collecting.
This was a true to the floor maxi dress...I needed the heels to keep it from dragging on the ground.
Gold shoes peeking out...
This necklace takes my breath away...not sure why it took me 3 years to finally wear it.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Overdrive; Stranded, Radio, & Big Sky eyeshadow by UD; Lovedrunk lipstick by UD; & Morgan Taylor nail polish in Stop, Shop, & Roll.
Michael Waite playing some Mardi Gras tunes from the Yoop on Fat Tuesday...& later, Baby Berlin spinning 90s alternative & DJ Starr Noir playing Darkwave. 3 new to me artists on Green Note...I've discovered so many amazing musicians during the last year.
We went somewhere! It was so...normal. It's been a few weeks since David & I have gotten our second Covid vaccine...so we feel we can actually go places now, still masked up of course. Who would have guessed the first place we'd go was to the gym?! Lifting 10 pound weights...it's a start. I want to build up some real world strength...my goal is to be able to pull the comforter over myself without using all my might. I wish I was kidding...this is how weak I am. Them Coulee Boys made a video of themselves eating hot wings, progressively getting hotter. They promised to release it on Friday if their Kickstarter got to $70,000. The fans seemed to think it was funny...I don't enjoy watching people hurt themselves, but I did enjoy them answering questions Facebook followers had sent in. DJ Starr Noir again, playing goth/punk/new wave/90s...a really great mix.
DJ Po spinning vinyl...80s, post punk, darkwave. New to me shoes from Fluemarket...shiny olive patent Malibrans...in love. This classic style has been around for years & I've always been drawn to it...with the exception of the typically brown wooden looking heels...but these are GREEN. I am considering painting the white stitching black to match the buckles...but I am afraid of painting Fluevogs. DJ Baby Berlin playing 80s new wave/dark wave/synthpop. And a bit of 80s from Planet Earth/Late Bar Chicago.
Last week was the 25th anniversary of The Hotel Washington burning down. I still remember Michael coming home to the apartment we shared with Shane & telling us about it...walking past it on his way home from work that early morning. I spent a lot of my youth there & have especially fond memories of drinks at The Barbers Closet with Shane & with Brian. The Oscar was Shane's favorite drink. One of the people who used to work at the hotel has the original Rolodex full of drink recipes from The Barbers Closet & she posted some...she said it still smells strongly of smoke from the fire. DJ Davide from Canada playing New Wave/Alternative/Post Punk/Synthpop.
Sunday morning UnderCovered covers Fiona Apple...& The Glenn Crytzer Quartet plays tunes from 1934.

Purple Velvet Fluted Dress

Dress: Purple Velvet Fluted Dress by Torrid (size 5x)
Shoes: Old Navy, thrifted
Earring: Kerala Rose
Necklace & Bracelet: Vintage
2 Purple Necklaces: Green Goddess Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-70
All dressed up & nowhere to go...velvet version. I'm really only getting dressed to get my pictures taken...it keeps me sane with this bit of normality. So, why not pull out some fancy dresses as if I had plans...remember those?! Place to go...sigh. Also, how elegant does purple velvet fluted dress sound??
This dress was a bit big on top, so it didn't lay as nicely as it should have...I adored the trapeze flare on the bottom though...as well as the cutout in back. Torrid is calling this dress purple...it definitely skewed a pinky purple to me. This was my first time wearing these rose gold glitter flats I picked up at Savers.
This was also my first time wearing this set of merlot necklaces...with one hanging down the back...had I been actually wearing this outfit out...I would have secured that one so it stayed in place better.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Love Drug, Pat McGrath eyeshadow in Gold Standard & Electron, Locket & Keepsake liquid lip color by Sugarpill Cosmetics, & OPI nail polish in Queen of West Web-erly.
My final sewing step...hand sewing the rings on the back of the blinds. Farmers' market beef roast with a mushroom & shallot sauce & roasted sweet potatoes...& a lovely pairing of wine from Kate's cellar.
New to me, DJ/VJ Ant, on Twitch...& a rather sad version of my usually beloved Planet Earth. Glenn Crytzer & his boys playing the songs of 1931.

Silk Pillowcases

Dress: Black Floral Maxi Shirtdress by Torrid (size 4x)
Shoes: Born
Earring: former Etsy shop
Necklace & Bracelet: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-70
Another tag removed from an unworn dress in my closet...I really didn't realize how many dresses I have from Torrid. I think what happens is...I go into Torrid to pick up leggings I ordered online, then they are having a buy 2, get 2 free clearance sale...& off I go. I'm not normally a fan of shirtdresses, but this one is so pretty...orange!...& flowy. Pretty black lace panels on the shoulders, & 2 slits on either side of the button up front dress this sexy shirtdress up.
I nearly wore black tights with this & I'm so glad I didn't as they would have just disappeared into the dress...instead...there are peeks of orange leg, which makes me smile.
Pumpkin orange liquid eyeliner...David got me a bunch of fun colored liners from Kat von D ages ago...& I will be sad when they dry up, even though I don't use them often. I think this is my first time wearing this bracelet...it's old & all metal...the orange disks are actually painted right on the metal as opposed to being stones.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Perversion, Kat von D Lightning Liner in Ludwig, Pumpkin lipliner by NYX, MAC lipstick in Habanero & Dozen Carnations, & Race Red nail polish from OPI.
Way back in time...Christmas 1999...Kate bought me 4 place settings of 3 (dinner plate, salad plate, & bowl) of this fabulous green grape pattern from Williams Sonoma. I suggested to David that we seek out more of this pattern on eBay & he agreed...so this is now our dining room dish ware...for more than 4 people. The amazing gate Erika made...in the doorway it will live. Advent perfume.
Boxy Charm, & Goth-y DJs on Twitch.
Our Fiesta that I ordered started trickling in, DJ Miz Margo, & Vetiver Fatal cologne.
Jason cut his finger...so we ran over some Vet Bond glue to keep it shut...& got to see Kate in person, yay! Right before we left the house, we got a pork delivery & a bacon got dropped on the floor in our rush to leave...& there it still sat when we got home. We have the weirdest dogs...we are going to be in trouble when we get normal dogs again.
Day #16 of the Advent calendar. Silk pillowcases...I read an article about how much better they are for your hair & face...& I must say, they are luxurious to sleep on...I was expecting them to be slippery like satin, but not at all. We may need a set of silk sheets...but, dogs. 3 of our Fiesta colors in the cabinet...butterscotch was the last to arrive.
Rearranging shoes & boots in the closet...I found these Fluevogs from 1991, Hook & Eye Balmora...according to the experts in the Fluevog community. An orange sticker for day 17 of the calendar...& an actual vinyl playing DJ.
