Black & White & Thrifted

Dress: Polka Dot Dress by Lane Bryant (size 26/28), thrifted
Cardigan: Isaac Mizrahi Live, thrifted
Shoes: Franco Sarto, thrifted
Earring: etXarte
Necklace: Wendy Baker
Bracelet: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
I didn't set out to create a thrifted outfit...but as I was writing this blog...I noticed all my main elements were thrifted from Savers during various 50% off sales. I troll St. Vinny's & Goodwill occasionally...but I hardly ever find anything fun in my size anywhere except for Savers...is our Savers here special? I'd love to hear about other plus size thrifters experiences in their area.
It was terribly cold & windy on this December day.

I wore this outfit to farmers' market & wine tasting with the girlie...there were a lot of wines open on this day...like 20-something...I don't remember why. But I do remember I was craving a scone from Lazy Jane's afterward.
I also wore this outfit to work & run errands...including Savers, picking up my seasonal favorite at Lush, Bûche De Noël face cleanser...contemplating a copper pepper mill at Sur La Table for Super Boo, trying ALL the MAC lipsticks (so I could order from the online 25% off sale), & eating lunch with David.
But the best errand of all...picking out the stone for my wedding ring. I had thought I wanted a garnet, but it turns out I actually wanted a poppy topaz (the first one).
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Zero, NYX liquid liner (I threw this out after the photo as it cracked on my eyes nearly immediately after applying it, I just couldn't find my Kat von D that day), NYX Vivid Brights liquid liner in Vivid Fire, UD Primer Potion in Greed, UD eyeshadow in Half Baked & Smog, NYX Simply Red lipstick in Russian Roulette, & Wildfire Vinylux nail polish by CND.

Thanksgiving

Dress: Fox Print Belted Shift Dress by Isabel + Alice (size 5x) via Gwynnie Bee (use my link to get your first month free & help me earn GB credit)
Cardigan:
Shoes: ?, thrifted
Earring: etXarte
Necklace & Bracelet: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
I wore this outfit to Thanksgiving...yep, I'm that behind on blogging...however, I did go out of order a bit in December...so I'll catch up quickly...but for now...here we are on Thanksgiving day. I despise shift dresses, but...the print & colors were cute...so I took a chance. The cardigan gave it a shape, thank goodness...I found this beauty at Savers, brand new...with tags still on...those colors & pattern mixing...what could be more me? I just wish the design continued on the back. This dress was nothing special...cheap material & sewn badly...the belt was attached, so I was forced to wear it where they placed it. Obviously, my favorite part of this outfit was the cardigan.
I wanted to wear mustard tights with this outfit...but as I'm always getting dressed as I'm running out the door...I didn't know where they were.
Thanksgiving at Angie & Toby's...Val & Molly watch David's every move as he carves the turkey. The girlie & bubbles...
 Our spread...so many delicious vegetables...
 And wine...& pie...
 But most importantly...dogs!
I wore this outfit the next day to have fish fry at Alchemy with David...I am still dreaming about this clam bisque...heavenly.
 Autumnal colors are the best.
My make-up with this outfit included...Colourpop Gel Liner in Fast Lane; Kat von D eyeshadow in Rewind, Harpsichord, Analogue, Fran, & Legend; NYX Matte lipstick in Alabama; Nars blush in Luster; & We the Female nail polish by OPI.

Retro Floral...Retro House...

Dress: Retro Floral Fit & Flare Dress by Adrianna Papell (size 24) via Gwynnie Bee (use my link to get your first month free & help me earn GB credit)
Cardigan: Jessica Howard
Shoes: Me Too, thrifted
Earring & Bracelet: Wendy Baker
Necklace: Vintage pin on a vintage chain
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
I instantly fell in love with this dress even though I knew Adrianna Papell runs small & doesn't really fit me...I didn't care...I had to wear this dress no matter how obscenely short & tight it was...& oh, it most certainly was. But those colors! I can't really speak to the fit since I could have used a dress two sizes larger...but it made me smile all day.
I bought this cardigan through GB's Try then Buy ages ago ($18 & I was the first person to get it...back in spring 2015 when GB prices were reasonable)...& I found these shoes for $3 at Savers.
I wore this retro floral dress on the day we went to our retro house to have a home inspection. There is mosaic *everywhere*...other than that...nothing has been done to this house since it was built in 1956. And we like it that way...because we plan on completely remodeling every room. What I currently like about it: red brick exterior, the layout, the size of the kitchen, all the windows, huge backyard, & that fireplace in the basement is fantastic. We have plans...I'm especially excited about that closet in my office (where David is standing)...it's ~4'x5' & we're going to make it an alcove by getting rid of all the doors...& then I'll put a vintage vanity in that space for all my make-up.
Pizza at Sal's...the last time at their original location...their new place is so much nicer & 6x the size.
My Sephora sale haul...
The Modern Renaissance palette has gotten the most use so far.
My make-up with this outfit included...Kat von D eyeshadow in Synth, Misfit, Fran, & Swoon; Urban Decay lipstick in Sheer Anarchy; Russian Roulette lipstick by NYX; & Teal the Cows Come Home nail polish from OPI.

Husbands for Rent

Dress: Pricilla Dress in Rose Bouquet by Queen of Heartz (size 28) via Gwynnie Bee (use my link to get your first month free & help me earn GB credit)
Cardigan: Merona, thrifted
Shoes: Bandolino, thrifted
Purse: Vintage, thrifted
Earring: etXarte
Necklace: Vintage pin on a vintage chain
Bracelet: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
My first dress from this brand, Queen of Heartz...I loved the unexpected color combination...the deep shades of red against the soft blue background. This dress runs a bit big...I'm wearing the 28 here & I suspect the 26 would be a better fit for me, maybe even a 24. This sleeveless dress with a deep scooped back is an all season dress...the ponte knit is a nice weight & the skirt has a lot of flare. I'm thrilled to have worn it in a cooler month so I could add a cardigan to bring out more of the darker color (or hide some of the pastel?)...also, to cover up the fact that I'm swimming in it.
A bit 50s housewife? A vintage bag to help up that vibe.
You can see the outline of the back scoop...also, there is a pointless zipper.
First indoor market of the season...blustery day. Afterwards I went to a studio warehouse sale where several artists were moving out of their workspace...I found a heavy rolling rack & a pair of elephant bookends.
The next day the girlie & I had tickets to see a play, 4,000 miles. I put the wrong time in my calendar...& since I had an hour to kill...I wandered through the holiday art fair they were having in the building (The Overture Center). This mixed media artist, Gena Ollendieck, was my favorite...
These hats by Hats-O-Fancy were whimsical & well made...look how lovely the fabrics are inside...I adore that attention to detail. I'm regretting not talking with the creator more since there doesn't appear to be anywhere online to purchase her beauties...but she's here in Madison...so I am sure to run into her again.

Elephant & Piggie!!! Apparently this is a children's book series...but as these are my two favorite animals (after dogs, of course)...I may have to go see this play.
There was an art exhibit of old movie posters & photographs of actors outside the playhouse. I want to see The Tigress & Husbands for Rent...don't those sound fun?! Also, that photo of Alice Brady, circa 1925...I want her entire outfit.

4,000 Miles...what a beautiful comedy/drama about connection...if you get a chance to see it, go.
After the show cocktails at Gib's.
My make-up with this outfit included...Kat von D eyeshadow in Rewind; Urban Decay eyeshadow in Gash, Alchemy, Junkshow, & Buzz; NYX (last shadow in the third row) The Brights palette; NYX Russian Red lipstick; Golshan lipstick by Nars; & We The Female nail polish by OPI.

Henry Rollins Tour 2016-2017

Dress: Foxfire Dress in Olive Green by Kiyonna (size 4x) via Gwynnie Bee (use my link to get your first month free & help me earn GB credit)
Shoes: Selby, thrifted vintage
Earring: etXarte
Necklace & Bracelets: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
I felt sexy in this dress. I wore this style in burgundy back in fall of 2015 & I own this dress in black...but haven't worn that one yet. I'm not sure which color I like more...olive or burgundy? What do you think? When I first put the burgundy dress on I thought it was too tight, but after seeing it on me through the eyes of David & Kate...I decided I liked it...VBO & all. If you need a va-va-voom dress...Kiyonna Foxfire is my favorite (GB also offers it in blue & purple, but there are none currently on the Kiyonna site).
Olive & pumpkin...my two favorite colors together.
The wrap panel & ruching make this body con dress more interesting to me...& I adore the neckline.
I wish the back were slightly less plunging & the sleeves were more form-fitting...but otherwise...hubba hubba...
I wore this dress to see Henry Rollins with David...I've lost track of how many times we've gone to his spoken word show.
 Henry!
 I love my make-up...
My make-up with this outfit included...Moss eyeliner by Lancôme, Kat von D eyeshadow in Misfit, Too Faced eyeshadow in Bordeaux, Coppering eyeshadow by MAC, Mildew eyeshadow by Urban Decay, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Manhunter, Bite Beauty lipstick in Apricot, & Red Hot Holiday nail polish by OPI.

Pancakes & Stoves

Dress: Dolce Vita Dress in Geranium by Effie's Heart (size 4x) via Gwynnie Bee's Try Then Buy
Cardigan: Cropped Cardigan in Fiesta Orange by Pinup Girl Clothing (same as Modcloth's Dream of the Crop)
 Footless Tights: We Love Colors
Shoes: Nine West, thrifted
Earring: Wendy Baker
Necklace: etsy, gift from Girls of GB holiday gift exchange
Bracelet: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo, Kate, & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
I first wore this dress in April 2015 & then not again until my trip to visit my parents in October of last year...& on our last day in Chicago back in November. I'm not quite two months behind in blogging since I went out of order for a bit...but now I'm going back to where I left off, my last day in Chicago with the girlie (day 1 & day 2). The first three photos here were taken the day after Chicago...to work & run errands with David.
This Effie's Heart dress is super comfortable & the colors are lovely. I bought it from GB & I remember wearing it to the film fest & Kate not liking it...but she doesn't remember that & approved this time, thank goodness. Effie's Heart makes plus sizes for GB & Modcloth, but not on their site. Until now...there is *one* plus size dress on there & it is adorable...typewriters
On our final day in Chicago...we had breakfast at Famous Dutch Pannenkoeken Huis. Kate had apple ginger pannenkoeken, but I couldn't resist pumpkin pancakes, yum.
When I got back to Madison, David was eager to share the stoves he'd been looking at with me...
then we had burritos at Habaneros & were full of envy over their enormous pots.
 Sephora Play! November box.
I'm in love with my eyeshadow here...
My make-up with this outfit included...Moss eyeliner by Lancôme, Kat von D eyeshadow in Misfit, Too Faced eyeshadow in Bordeaux, Urban Decay eyeshadow in Fireball, NYX eyeshadow (bottom right orange), Nars blush in Luster, NYX lipstick in Peach Bellini & Tangerine, & OPI nail polish in Toucan Do It If You Try with Alys Dream Polish in Sweet Orange on top.
