The Colors of Fun & Happiness

Dress: Sky Blue Floral Fit & Flare Dress by Eva Rose (size 4x) via Gwynnie Bee
Leggings: LuLaRoe (TC2)
Sandals: Born
Earring: Wendy Baker
Necklace: Colleen Toland
Bracelets: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
This extremely light weight woven dress was perfect for a hot summer day. I felt that the pattern & colors were rather uninteresting, but it was fine for a wear & to do teletherapy in. I'm always happy with the fit on these Eva Rose cotton dresses, however, they do wrinkle easily. Pockets!
Of course I felt the need to brighten up this boring baby blue & white frock with some leggings...which I think work because of my added red accessories.
I'm down to only 12 dresses in my Gwynnie Bee closet...& like this one, I don't even love all of them. I guess when I run out of dresses, I'll have to quit? I mean...I *do* have over 200 dresses in my actual closet that I've never worn. And even more that I have worn. It's a problem.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Abyss, Sugarpill Cosmetics Love+ eyeshadow, Huda Beauty Neon palette, No-Tell Motel lipstick from UD, & Aim to Misbehave nail polish from Essie.
Sean Hayes hurt his shoulder...so he was joined by his friend John Courage on guitar, APT does a reading of Jim DeVita's new play, An Improbable Fiction, & David made us some more peach basil compote to go with our instant pot chicken...delicious.
Drive-up farmers' market...I took my chances on flowers they picked out for me...these sunflowers never did perk up. Leah Brooke Conway playing live from home...& a few minutes of Adore Delano.
In case you didn't know, this Facebook conversation will tell you...I am a terrible person. Surprise Sunday visitors...Angie wanted to get out of the house & I said YES! Please come over. Check out this adorable hipster with his Joy Division onesie & grandma made upcycled plaid flannel shorts...he's got his eye on the prized raspberries. This was also the day (a week ago Sunday) that I decided to Google a close high school friend...after not talking to her for 8 years (totally my fault...remember, terrible person?) & call the number I found...& she decided to forgive me. I am incredibly happy she is back in my life, but it's also slightly sad because she has an awful stage 4 cancer...perhaps why she'd been on my mind the past few weeks.
The beginning of our pergola in the backyard. Some jewelry in the colors of fun & happiness.

Avocadore Avocados

Dress: Avocado Print Pink Fit & Flare Dress by Unique Vintage (size 4x) via Gwynnie Bee
Leggings: LuLaRoe (TC2)
Sandals: Born
All Jewelry: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
An avocado dress calls for avocado leggings, right? I like these Unique Vintage dresses, but they never fit me right on top...everywhere else is good though. The print was adorable, however, why are the insides of these avocados yellow?! It doesn't matter because I avocadore avocados.
My hair needs to be cut...but at this point, who knows when that can safely happen? Perhaps I should just grow it out...I like this haircut because it's so so so easy. I wash it. And spray some stuff in it & scrunch. When I try to have straight hair, I have to gel it down flat or iron it. When I have long hair I have to hot roller it. And if I'm in a hurry...blow dry it. My problems are the worst.
I've worn this bracelet before, but this is my first time wearing the matching necklace. The earring I'm wearing also has a matching necklace...I just don't have a lot of solid yellow earrings to choose from.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Electric Empire, Violet Voss Sparkling Cherry Limeade palette, Cotton Candy & Sprinkles eyeshadow by Too Faced, Big Bang lipstick & lipliner, & OPI nail polish in You're Grounded.
Look at that fabulous orange car...I mean, just the color...not the actual car. All the asparagus...is what David & I have been eating...2 hamburger patties with cheese hiding underneath. When the quarantine first began, we turned to a lot of comfort food...things we normally don't eat like bread...oh, & more bread. I mean, let's be honest...I could live on bread. But that got old quickly & then the farmers' market veggies exploded & mostly we've been eating salads....sooooo many salads. Asparagus season is over, but I bought so much that we still have one more heaping helping left to make. My monthly Boxy Charm.
I got a necklace...you can't tell...but this necklace is various shades of orange. I take these photos inside & we have super warm lighting. Look at this happiness that came in the mail! A rainbow bag from IKEA from my old online friend, Christiane...I met her back in 1999 in the same group I met Kate, Plus Goths. Pokey Lafarge playing a tune on Patreon.
David is building us a pergola! He picked up the first of the materials he needed. Distracting dogs cavorting cutely while I try to plan my curtain sewing project. And! Market raspberries from my favorite lady, Fern...I love these SO much.
My friend Michael has been sending me vintage stuff for sale on FB Marketplace...& just look at these sexy sirens. I visited Waterloo for the first time only to discover that this clock was made of heavy plastic & not metal. So I went home without it.
Dan Rodriguez playing songs & some vintage Czech jewelry I found on Etsy.

The Devil on The Girlie's Shoulder

Dress: Picnic Delight Fit & Flare Dress by Eva Rose (size 4x) via Gwynnie Bee
Teggings: Re/Dress
Sandals: Born
All Jewelry: Wendy Baker
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
Picnic Delight is the perfect name for this festive frock. The fit & length were spot on for me & I adore the matching v-necks in front & back...just a cute summer touch. The fabric on this dress is extra soft & the arm holes fit well. I wouldn't change a thing about it.
I wish I could have worn this for picnicking outside at APT. It was a wonderful hot weather dress for me all week...I wore it to do teletherapy, pickup at farmers' market, & for a porch visit with Kate & Jason.
This is my first time wearing this stunner from Wendy...wow, I just love her massive floral creations...
My make-up with this outfit included...NYX eyeliner in Moss, Lime Crime eyeshadow in Candles & Ten, Huda Beauty Ruby Obsessions palette, NYX lipstick in 507, Dozen Carnations lipstick by MAC, & OPI nail polish in Orange You Going To The Game?
A bottle of wine before dinner...this bottle did not survive the years & needed a bit of Super Boo help...he added blueberries, ginger, lemon peel, & cardamom to make this delightful to sip. I also picked up fresh veggies at market, & this amazing cabinet my friend Michael alerted me to on FB Marketplace. It is stunning.
Fresh peaches from Georgia...we got a 25 pound box. SistaStrings that I nearly missed live...I was sitting online & forgot until Kate reminded me...they are fantastic & really are sisters. I watched Jennifer Petra Grimm for a while on the recommendation of Davina. Then I switched over to APT's premiere of their latest play reading...Marcus was the first one on screen (my favorite!).
Carlyle Brown's "Are You Now, or Have You Ever Been..." Which I need to finish watching. Harmonious Wail underneath the oak tree, a song from Jake'O & a bumper sticker I saw on my way to pick up at farmers' market.
Last Saturday I perused Art Fair on The Square online...although had it been in person, we would have gone on the much nicer weather day...Sunday.
All the art in our office is Bruce Holwerda...so I feel like we can't have any at home.
The artist who stood out to me the most this year was Dewey James & this woman walking a toy dog. Matt, DJ Eurotic, playing a 4 hour 80s/90s goth club set on Saturday...I was only able to listen for the first 1/2 hour...& elly was on...so, it was like I was at the club with e, right? Then on Sunday...Jason & Kate came to porch visit! And David whipped us up some peach & basil compote that was incredibly tasty.
Our new distanced girlie visit picture...still the devil on Kate's shoulder.

Falling in Love with Beauty

Dress: Keyhole Green Fit & Flare Dress by eShakti (size 28) via Gwynnie Bee
Leggings: LuLaRoe (TC2)
Sandals: Croft & Barrow, thrifted
Earring: Wendy Baker
Necklace: bel monili
Bracelet: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
This dress was such a gorgeous shade of green, perfect for my newly dyed summer red head...but it needed the oomph of a pattern & I thought these leggings were perfect...my second choice was black leggings with avocados on them...but not enough color. Great fit & length on the dress, especially the armholes...& nice deep pockets. The neck was too high for me for a summer dress...this could transition well into the cooler months with a cardigan.
We first tried taking these photos in front of our garage...but the light was too dappled at the end of the day...so we sought out some color at graffiti alley.
My first wearing of this necklace from bel monili, discovered through Wendy Baker...the flower jewelry designers have to stick together.
My make-up with this outfit included...ColourPop eyeliner in Workout, NYX Avant Pop palette, Urban Decay eyeshadow in Fireball, Violet Voss Sparkling Cherry Limeade palette, Mimosa lipstick by Bite Beauty, Dozen Carnations lipstick from MAC, & OPI nail polish in Orange You Going To The Game?
I watched a bit of Caroline Spence (who I'd never heard of) via The Americana Music Association Facebook page...she has that sweet little girlie voice that I adore...although I'm sure that doesn't sound like a compliment, but I can't think of a better way to describe it. Dan Rodriguez playing online...I hope I get to see him at The Shitty Barn some day. And of course...we spent 4th of July weekend watching Hamilton. I'd seen a pirated copy of the original cast version, but I've never seen the play live. Yet.
Sean Hayes & Bret Helm from Audra playing live on Facebook...& several times a week I tune into Bad Seed Teevee & I've seen so many amazing live performances & videos from Nick Cave...he's a living legend & I'm sad the girlie & I won't be seeing him in Milwaukee this fall. But I'm so very lucky that I've been able to see him live more times than any other artist.
Some new summer earrings from Shawna at Kerala Rose...I'm not sure why...but her earrings scream summer to me.
Look what I'm getting!!! I found Tracey Bellion last year when I was looking up ideas on how to chalk paint my make-up vanity...I was instantly in love with her quirky whimsical style. But I never dreamed I would own anything painted by her. She posted this marvelous mirror last week & I couldn't stop thinking about it...so I inquired & for her to paint & ship it to me was much more affordable than I would have guessed. So she's going to gaudy it up for me & I'm going to hang it in my office above my jewelry chest. I'm in love. I need to fall in love with beauty every day or I feel empty.

Arms & the Man

Dress: Clock Print Rose Dress by Unique Vintage (size 4x) via Gwynnie Bee Try Then Buy
Teggings: Re/Dress
Sandals: Naturalizer, thrifted
Earring: etXarte
Necklace: former Etsy shop
Bracelets: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
This dress was on its way to me & it was only $4...so I thought...it would at least make a cute nightgown...so I bought it before it got here. It's all kinds of awkward...with the neck tie thing just ending at the seam, the pouffy sleeves with a cuff...but totally cute for a wear out...then to bed. The length & fit were good, with the exception of the sleeves being too tight. The dress was unlined & the fabric comfortable.
Of course...you know my boobs are not going to fit into the sewn in chest area without a bra on...they'll be down in the waist area.
I have two mauve bracelets that matched this dress quite nicely...& I mixed a lipstick to coordinate.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Perversion; UD eyeshadow in Hell Ride, Wildheart, Breakaway, & Stranded; Bite Beauty lipstick in Spiced Plum & Spritzer; & Sonora Sunset nail polish by OPI.
More online entertainment...The Lowest Pair, Stephanie Blythe & Anthony Roth Costanzo from the Metropolitan Opera singing a fabulous ukulele version of The Rainbow Connection for Pride month, Milton playing guitar & singing...& finally an American Players Theatre at home performance of Shaw's Arms & the Man. They've been doing some fun things from home that I've really enjoyed. Perhaps I need to pack a picnic & watch their next offering outside.
Carsie Blanton was part of an online festival...so I had to watch...Vance Gilbert was also on at the same time...so I discovered a new artist I like. Friday nights with Sean Hayes, farmers' market pick-up, & a bit of Jake 'O, who was playing to a live audience.
Carsie's monthly rent party for her band & Charlie Parr with a band & bare feet.
Davina testing out some new software for going live, Tracey painting up a pretty layering of stripes...she is one of my favorite chalk paint artists to watch...Matt DJ-ing an entire set of Depeche Mode...it was fantastic & a few songs made me cry. Later that night...a tree fell on Davina & her husband's car & she went live as she checked it out.
