So Many Decisions...

Dress: Scuba Dress in Dark Floral by Julian Taylor (size 24) via GB Shop
Cardigan: Talbots (size 3x), thrifted
Leggings: Torrid (size 4x)
Boots: Dr. Martens
Earring: etXarte
Necklace: Age Before Beauty
Bracelet: former etsy shop
Photography: Super Boo, Kate, & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
I wore this unintentional outfit several times...it all started with me needing to throw some clothes on to meet Kate at farmer's market. These items just happened to be on the back of a dining room chair...so on my body they went. The girlie said she liked them together...so they became an ensemble.
Sometimes I have to wear an outfit several times before pictures happen...we needed to go to the nearby charming town of Cambridge to look at gas fireplaces & had just a bit to snap these before the rain came. An adorable old lady came out of the shop behind me to see what we were doing...she told David she owned the clothing store for over 40 years...we tried to go in after photos...but she had closed up for the day.
Farmers' Market on Tory Miller breakfast morning...ridiculously busy. Kate & I decided to have brunch at one of his restaurants since obviously all of his fans were elsewhere...we were wrong. We had a short wait at Graze...then food...
Nibbling girlie & the capitol on our way to wine tasting at Square.
Ulta had NYX on sale...buy 1 get 1 free...so I stocked up on eyebrow pencils since I don't really *need* any make-up. But the brushes were also BOGO, & I *do* need brushes.
On another day...David & I making the final decision on a range...we resolved the issue...which ended up with neither of the ones we started out with (pictured)...we are going with an induction cooktop (I LOVE gas, but everyone says this is better) & a separate electric wall oven that makes all the choices for you. Then burgers at our favorite new place...Brothers' 3 (the orange door). And more choices...fixtures for the bathroom.
Super Boo & I went to Deconstruction Inc on a Friday instead of Thursday & missed out on these spectacular shutters...aren't they fantastic?! I thought we could use a pair of them as cabinet doors in the kitchen. Thinking about a sink like the one below for a laundry sink (the one we have now is concrete & we'd like to replace it). That marvelous metal coffee table came home with us...we are still thinking about what we want to put on top.
We needed to pick out two gas insert fireplaces & determined we liked these the best...the top one is for the living room & the other one will be installed in our current fireplace in the basement.
Entertainment at farmers' market with the girlie & lunch with Super Boo while waiting for the snow tires to come off the car...I *think* winter is over?
My make-up with this outfit included...Abyss eyeliner by Urban Decay; UD eyeshadow in Gash; Anastasia eyeshadow in Venetian Red, Vermeer, & Primavera; Majella lipstick by Nars; MAC lipstick in Strength, & OPI nail polish in This Color's Making Waves.

The Peacock Alcove

Dress: Nina Dress in Brushstroke Print by Effie's Heart (size 4x) via Facebook resellers group
Cardigan: Talbots (size 2x), thrifted
Shoes: Tahari, thrifted
Earring & Necklace: Babil & Bijou (former etsy seller)
Bracelets: Vintage, garage sale finds
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
I had this dress from Gwynnie Bee last fall & liked it...but David really loved it...so when it came up for sale on a FB resellers group...I snagged it. I also own this style of dress in navy plaid, which I adore. Effie's Heart clothing is so comfortable & it is one of the brands I didn't know existed before GB as up until recently...they only made their garments in plus size for Modcloth & GB. They are made of a thick t-shirt material & their fit is consistently spot on for me. Also, consistently cute.
I wore this dress in the fall with the same turquoise tights & necklace...but everything else is different.
Savers' finds...check out those pimp shoes we got for David. Sephora Play! February box. And some marvelous bright summer earrings from eBay.
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics was having a sale. Summer nail polish...it's spring, right?!
I don't know what I was thinking with this City Chic dress from GB...I couldn't find a way to wear it without my bra sticking out...so I sent it back unworn. I liked the style more than I thought I would though. Musicians at the indoor farmers' market play pretty music to shop to. Friday fish fry with David at Alchemy...this clam bisque is just amazing.
David took off the door & trim on this hall closet...which is going to be the peacock alcove. Years ago Shane & I were antiquing in a Victorian mansion & there was a stuffed peacock on the way up the stairs...I've wanted one ever since. I am doing my peacock imitation & David is demonstrating how a statue might look here if I can't find a peacock.
Deconstruction Inc. They are only open Thursday, Friday, & Saturday...we try to go every week...preferably on Thursday...we never know what kind of treasures we'll see.
Bathroom planning over lunch at Brothers' 3...we are combining our main bathroom with a powder room to make one larger bathroom with a walk-in shower.
Everyone was amazed that David asked for a second patty on his burger...I think we're regulars there now.
My make-up with this outfit included...NYX eyeliner in Gypsy Blue, Kat von D eyeshadow in Hyperballad & Skulls, Urban Decay eyeshadow in Gash, MAC lipstick in New York Apple, NYX lipstick in Alabama, & This Color's Making Waves nail polish by OPI.

Pokey LaFarge at The Stoughton Opera House

Dress: Sweetheart Wrap Dress in Terrazzo Print by Leota (size 5L) via Gwynnie Bee Try Then Buy
Cardigan: MAK via Modcloth
Shoes: Moda Spana, thrifted
Earring: etXarte
Necklace: etsy, gift from Girls of GB gift exchange
Bracelet: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
I immediately loved this Leota dress when I put it on...& ended up buying it...which I am always more likely to do when I'm the first person to get it from GB. Sweetheart necklines are my favorite...such a lovely frame. The red, peach, & navy palette in a pretty wallpaper design is unlike anything I have in my wardrobe. This dress is shorter than I typically feel comfortable in, but I felt safe wearing it with tights & hope I didn't flash anyone when I bent over.
I adore these MAK cropped cardigans...I've gotten them from both Modcloth & Pinup Girl Clothing...but I have recently discovered a site, Le Bomb Shop, that carries them in over 20 colors, up to size 4x...for only $24 & shipping is free when you spend $50. I plan on ordering from them in the future. If it weren't for thrifting...I possibly would never have learned how fabulous cropped cardigans were...it all started with a Torrid cropped b&w polka dot cardigan I thrifted from Savers.
I was in the Winter issue of FabUplus magazine & after several months of having the issue...finally managed to get photos with it to tag them in on Instagram.
Back to the Stougton Opera House for a show...this time...Pokey LaFarge. Such a gorgeous theatre...if only you remember to bring your own padded seats with you.
Kate is wearing a cashmere cardigan I found for her while thrifting...it's SO adorable on her.
An amazing show!
OMG! These are the best dive bar hamburgers ever...Angie has been telling us to go to Brother's 3 for the burgers & they were fantastic...this was our first time...but now we're regulars. Deconstruction Inc, David washing my car, & some bitch & slut stockings that I have a dozen pairs of from the 90s...they had to go. What was I thinking?! The things I've been finding as I pack. And delicious ribs.
Eyes opened...eyes closed...
My make-up with this outfit included...NYX eyeliner in Deep Blue, Urban Decay eyeshadow in Goldmine & Minx, Mon Ennui Cosmetics eyeshadow in Year of the Dragon, Dozen Carnations lipstick from MAC, Russian Roulette lipstick by NYX, & Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics nail polish in Lustgarten.

Valentine's Day Burlesque

Dress: Lingerie from Lane Bryant (nearly 20 years old)
Top: Ross
Leggings: Torrid
Boots: Dr. Martens
Earring & Bracelet: Vintage
Necklace: former etsy seller
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
For Valentine's Day I went to a burlesque show with Kate & David. They were going to have a lingerie contest, so even though I wasn't going to participate in that...this outfit seemed appropriate. I was shocked I was able to find it...I don't think I've worn this in over a decade. I used to wear it to go out & as part of a devil girl costume.
The tongue on my right boot came out & I still can't decide if I should have it sewn back in or pull the other one out...I'm leaning toward taking it out...I like the corset look over whatever color tights I'm wearing. However, I prefer things that don't match...so I'm enjoying wearing them as is.
David & I went to Indian buffet for lunch...I was not wearing this outfit. Typically David & I do not celebrate Valentine's Day...even though that was the day we first met via email. 14 years ago this year.
Kate suggested we check out this Les Cougars burlesque show...they were honoring artists that died last year & it sounded fun. People at the VIP tables got champagne & we were trying to figure out how horrible it was...but we couldn't see the label.
We love burlesque...but this show was terrible...Kate called it a valentine massacre...& she likes everything. The highlight was the woman with the umbrella...& the host of the event did a raunchy policewoman number that was hilarious. We decided we'd stick it out until intermission before making our escape. Our only disappointment was that we wouldn't see the Jereth/Bowie performance...it was a great costume.
During a particularly harrowing rendition of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah...David danced for us. It was the best part of the night.
My make-up with this outfit included...Kat von D eyeshadow in Bloodmilk, Medusa, & Ankh; Red Dragon Lip Tar from Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics; Russian Red lipstick by NYX, & OCC nail polish in Lustgarten.

Davina & the Vagabonds

Dress, Cardigan, Leggings, & Shoes: Torrid (Torrid sent me everything except for the cardigan...which was thrifted)
Crinoline: Malco Modes, thrifted
Purse: etsy, gift from Kate
Earring: etXarte
Necklace: Wendy Baker
Bracelet: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo, Kate, & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
These photos were taken last August for Marcy's 22+ Style Lookbook that came out in the fall. Torrid generously sent me the dress, leggings, & shoes that I picked out. This cherry pin-up dress is cheery & charming...I felt flirty just wearing it. I went with a size 28 for the dress...it's cotton with no stretch & I wasn't sure what size to go with...but it was PERFECT. I wouldn't change a thing about it. This was my first pair of shoes from Torrid...I believe all their shoes are wide width, which I'm not...but they are so cute I don't care.
I was blown away by how well made the dress was. I have since purchased several dresses from Torrid, but previous to getting this dress...I had mostly stuck to collecting their amazing leggings.
For this photo shoot...I wore a black Malco Modes crinoline underneath. How do people store those things??? I added a polka dot cardigan to see Davina & the Vagabonds with Kate last month & left the crinoline at home.
Drinks at an adorable bar across the street from The Stoughton Opera House before the show. I asked if they had a drink menu & the bartender told me...only for martinis. I tentatively asked if she could make me a Moscow Mule...she said yes...but with that one word told me...yes, of course I can...what kind of hick bar do you think this is?? This framed Fortune magazine cover from January 1937 was in the bathroom...I took a photo because not only was it pretty...but $1 an issue?! That seems fairly steep for that year.
Despite the hard wooden seats...the opera house is a fantastic & gorgeous venue and Davina & the Vagabonds were spectacular. The girlie & I bought albums after the show & Kate took our picture. I don't normally ask...but she's adorable & sweet. The full moon was lovely on our walk to the car.
