Annabella

Dress: Annabella Maxi Dress by Maeve by Anthropologie (size 26) via Nuuly (use my link & we both get $20 off)
Teggings: Re/Dress, RIP
Sandals: Born
Necklace & Earring: Heidi Daus via eBay
Bracelets: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 50-47-68
I am loving these boho-inspired maxi dresses from Anthropologie. This one had ALL the colors, but it was a bit big on top & tight through the hips where the pockets were. Otherwise, I liked it a lot. 5/6 of the dresses I picked this month from Nuuly have long sleeves, & it was a good call as we've had cooler weather...I figured they only have so many dresses in my size...get all the long sleeved ones now.
The top looked like trees in the distance to me.
A bit matchy matchy...this is not the matching earring to this necklace, but close.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Viper; Carnelian, Phlox, & Agate eyeshadow by Natasha Denona; Gothica lipstick by Kat von D; & OPI nail polish in Take The Stage.

Paisley Pattern

Dress: Elmira Ruffled Midi Dress by Anthropologie (size 26) via Nuuly (use my link & we both get $20 off)
Teggings: Re/Dress, RIP
Sandals: Born
All Jewelry: Colleen Toland

Beautiful dress...I loved the paisley pattern & all the colors. There were sparkling silver threads sewn in the dress, which was lovely, but made the dress scratchy. The fit & length were great...I thoroughly enjoyed wearing this pretty dress with all the ruffles.
This was my first time wearing these Born sandals because they'd been separated for years...one in a random box & the other in my closet.
This is also my first time wearing this jewelry set from Colleen Toland that was a gift from David.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Junkie, Lime Crime eyeshadow in Frosting & Lime Crime, Lumiere eyeshadow by Mon Ennui Cosmetics, Trinket lipstick from Sugarpill Cosmetics, & OPI nail polish in Orange You Going To The Game?
Listening to music curated by DJs on Twitch.
Dinner with Angie & Freddie...so delicious. Why does anything cooked on the grill taste soooo much better? Sadie licks!
Watching David & Freddie play was the highlight of the night...so adorable!

May Lilacs

Dress: Cowl Neck Stripe Dress by Robbie Bee (size 3x) via Gwynnie Bee
Cardigan: Dancing Days by Banned via ModCloth (size 4x)
Tights: Snag
Shoes: Fluevog, Time: Bridget
Earring: etXarte
Necklace & Bracelet: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 50-47-68
I was rather disappointed when I saw this was on its way to me from GB...it's a bit past cowl neck season. But...Wisconsin spring is unpredictable & we had a snap of cold weather. Also, I immediately fell in love with this dress...the dots, dashes, & stripes in mustard, black, & creme was fetching. And I liked the asymmetrical neckline. The fit was spot on. I'd buy this dress if it showed up in the shop.
I wasn't sure I'd ever worn this cardigan before, but it turns out I had, back in 2018. I adore the front of it, but am always disappointed when a design is not carried through the back.
restored these old Fluevogs from the Time family over the winter & I finally got to wear them. And...I finally found the name of them, Bridget.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Perversion, Kat von D Tattoo liner in Trooper, Carnelian eyeshadow by Natasha Denona, UD lip liner in 714, Beso lipstick by Stila, & OPI nail polish in You Make Me Vroom.
Girlies after market! Kate had to push me around in a wheelchair...such a wonderful girlie. And we got to car chat! I stopped & picked my favorite flowers, lilacs, on my way home. I seem to remember them lasting in a vase for a few days, but now they don't make it 24 hours. So sad. I just love how they smell.
Saturday night new wave tunes & Sunday with Glenn Crytzer & his band playing songs from 1943. And Social Distance Undercovered doing 60's Girl Groups.

Clove

Dress: Evelin Maxi Dress by Anthropologie (size 3x) via Nuuly (use my link & we both get $20 off)
Sandals: Born
Necklace & Bracelet: Wendy Baker
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 50-47-68
I never could decide if this dress was grey or green...I'm going with green because I don't like grey. The site calls it olive, but they don't always get their colors right. This dress was flowy & feminine...albeit a bit big on me. Great length & the fabric was so light & airy...this dress would be comfortable all summer long, despite the long sleeves. The empire waist is always a favorite of mine, I'd call this a casual dress you could go anywhere in.
The sleeves were my favorite part of this dress...I also liked the square neck, but because it was too big, my bra would poke out every once in a while. It blew romantically in the wind on this gusty day.
This Wendy Baker set brought out all the bits of color in the flowers.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Alkaline, UD eyeshadow in Fireball, Sparkling Cherry Limeade palette by Violet Voss, Sugarpill Cosmetics eyeshadow in Acidberry, Orange County lipliner from NYX, NYX lipstick in 507, Habanero lipstick by MAC, & OPI nail polish in Deutsch You Want Me Baby?
Friday night goth chicks DJ-ing great music.
My late teenage/early 20s in a bottle...clove cigarette. A collaboration between Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab & Thorns Clothing. Oh, my! It's perfect. This takes me back to summer 1988, sitting on the beach at night with Shane & Zoiy...she'd be smoking cloves, I never could finish one myself...but the smell was mesmerizing & exotic to me back at 18. Then later, it became the smell of goth clubs & darkness. I would have probably immediately bought a few extra bottles, but it appears it's no longer available.

Too Fat For Health Care

Dress: Lucienne Off-The-Shoulder Maxi by Anthropologie (size 24) via Nuuly (use my link & both of us get $20 off)
Teggings: Re/Dress, RIP
Sandals: Söfft, thrifted
Earring: etXarte
Necklace & Bracelets: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 50-47-68
This dress was a lovely mid-weight rayon/linen blend...the only downside being, it wrinkled easily, but it held its shape & lay nicely. I find any time the shoulders are revealed incredibly sexy...meaning, *I* feel sexy & beautiful...which is how clothing should make you feel. I was able to pull the top up to cover myself more during work, so it was versatile. This dress came with a wide fabric covered belt, but it distracted from the look to me as it already had a built in waistband. There was plenty of dramatic flare in the skirt & I liked the two front slits. The site calls this color red, but it is between a burnt orange & brown. This is a dress that I would wear anywhere...concert, play, party, picnic.
This was my first time wearing these sandals...this dress needed some patent leather shoes. Also...OMG...a new pose...
This is also my first time wearing this vintage necklace & the memory wire bracelet. I adore how the top of my tattoo is peeking out.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Perversion, Kat von D Tattoo liner in Trooper, Double Tap & Golden Nugget eyeshadow from Too Faced, 714 lip liner by UD, Spiderweb lipstick from UD, & OPI nail polish in A Kiss on the Chic.
Cuddled up doggies on the fainting couch in my office. One of my favorite quick meals lately...shredded pork carnitas (from Costco) fried with Chihuahua cheese until they get crispy, cilantro, avocado, sour cream...served on romaine lettuce leaves with a squeeze of lime on top...I've been eating it 4x a week. Leaving the gym...we saw this fun Shrek colored car...I love when cars are bright colors.
I wore this dress to talk to a doctor about getting a knee replacement. They did x-rays & then he talked to me for ~30 minutes. However, the bottom line is...they won't do a knee replacement on anyone with a BMI over 40. So, in order for me to be able to walk again without pain...I would need to weigh 250 pounds, which I most likely will by the end of the year. I get that anesthesia is tricky on obese bodies & that there is a higher risk of infection. I have another appointment in June with an out of town doctor with a history of performing joint replacements on people with a higher BMI. I've been doing my research & if this other doctor will do it, I'm getting my knee replaced. It's been over a year & a half since I've been able to walk without pain, without a cane. I've lost 120 pounds & it's just so discouraging to be told, nope...still too fat for health care. I've also got my diabetes under control, my last A1C was 4.3, so that will definitely help my healing. Listening to DJs on Twitch on a Thursday night.

Birthday Bakelite Bracelet

Dress: Ruffle Detail Ria Midi Dress by Hutch (size 3x) via Gwynnie Bee
Shoes: Chinese Laundry, thrifted
All Jewelry: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 50-47-68
Since the pandemic started, Gwynnie Bee has stopped having first fit models. The problem with that is you don't learn anything about a dress before closeting it...this is a sweater dress...there was NO mention of that in their description (they have since added that the dress is heavier than it looks). The navy & beige leopard print was cute, but the fabric was so heavy that the ruffles in the skirt droop & made the entire outfit look sloppy. The fit was great, but the length was awkward.
I wore this dress to work to see one client (in person!) & get photos...then immediately sent it back. I did not feel cute in this disaster of a dress.
I believe this is my first time wearing this matching necklace & bracelet. They came to me in a silver tone, but I applied an antique gold rub n buff to the metal.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in LSD; Natasha Denona eyeshadow in Harlow, Lash Line, & Satin Skin; 714 lipliner from UD; Santa Sangre lipstick by Kat von D; & OPI nail polish in A Kiss on the Chic.
I bought myself this stunning Brad Elfrink bracelet for my birthday. He carves them himself out of vintage Bakelite & if you don't see his post in the first few minutes...it's SOLD. I love it SO much.

50+1 Birthday

Dress: Adair Velvet-Trimmed Midi Dress by Anthropologie (size 24) via Nuuly (use my link & we each get $20 off)
Teggings: Re/Dress, RIP
Sandals: Concept by Born, thrifted
Earring: Wendy Baker
Necklace: bel monili
Bracelets: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo, Kate, Jason, & Me
Stats: 5'7" 50-47-68
The Birthday Dress! My first Anthropologie outfit...they've been making plus sizes for a while now, but every time I see something I adore...I also think, that's really expensive. So, I am thrilled I can rent them through Nuuly. I mean, I don't wear dresses more than twice typically anyway...it's really the ideal service for me. Also, if I wanted to buy this dress from them, it's $73, 63% off full price. I LOVED this dress...so flowy, bohemian, & gorgeous colors...great fit & length. All the different patterns were outlined in burgundy velvet...it was perfect for me & I felt pretty on my birthday...which is essential, right?!
Even though it was over 80° on my May 1st birthday...I was comfortable in this thin summer dress & I appreciated the long sleeves for sun protection.
I believe this is my first time wearing this sunny yellow necklace & perhaps some of the bracelets too.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Alkaline, Buttercupcake & Flamepoint eyeshadows by Sugarpill Cosmetics, Mediteranee eyeshadow duo by Nars, NYX Suede lipliner in Orange County, Orange Fizz lip stain from Bite Beauty, MAC lipstick in Dozen Carnations, & OPI nail polish in Orange You Going To The Game?
Birthday Eve...bopping along to the tunes on Twitch.
The first hug in over 14 months! Jason & David both documented it with LOTS of photos...but Jason took a video right at the end at the perfect time...for those of you who don't know, Kate had a breast reduction last fall...

All the happiness & smiles for getting to hug my girlie...the best birthday present EVER. We had a small gathering in our backyard...just us, Kate & Jason, and Angie & Toby. David spent so much time setting up the backyard & arranging all our Elkhorn Flea Market finds & my garage sale treasures to make a colorful fun gathering area around the fire pit.

I am at the end of laughing here because it was SUPER windy out (they issued a warning NOT to have any fires)...& Kate's dress blew up over her head. She doesn't wear anything underneath her dresses. Our first bottle of bubbles matched my dress! Kate picked out several fabulous bottles for us to drink throughout the evening. Rye is such a social dog when we have friends over...he stayed by us all night. Violet was off wandering the yard.
David had a hose at the ready in case anything or anyone started to smolder. David put all our metal arbors together to form a longer walkway through the yard...Kate & Rye took a dramatic stroll through. David making a variety of mushrooms with bell peppers.
Then...asparagus...cooked to perfection. I'm not sure how David did it since that pan must get way hotter on the fire than it does on our stove. Lobster tails...my favorite! Cutie Kate in the mushroom dress I got her for her birthday...eating mushrooms & sipping bubbles.
Shrimp! There were also scallops, but I must have forgotten to take a picture. ALL the seafood. I probably should have lived by an ocean. David roasting some tomatoes over the fire, talking to Toby...& Kate playing around with the solar lantern she got me. Kate & Jason, k-i-s-s-i-n-g.
Dusk...& the candles are lit...David bought a bunch of colorful candles & it just made me so happy. And finally, it got dark enough for the lantern to turn on...it casts pretty shadows & when I look out our bedroom window at night...it is the only thing lit up in our backyard.
Surrounded by candles. And friends. And dogs. It was a completely wonderful chill birthday with delicious food & lovely bubbles.
Listening to some New Wave later that night. The next day...David made us an omelet with leftover shrimp, mushrooms, & bell peppers...but what made it spectacular was the euchilada sauce (but perhaps it's called guasacaca, in looking at the menu?) Angie brought us from La Tagurara. Which I only realized when looking it up just now...is next door to my medical clinic...they've been telling me for YEARS how amazing it is. This sauce is awesomely garlicy avocado-y...I just love condiments...I'm going to try making it. Sunday...the return of UnderCovered, with NIN...& Glynn Crytzer & the boys playing songs from 1942.
More delightful deliciousness left over from my birthday...lobster tails & asparagus...& Angie made me more of the almond cookies that she brought for Easter...OMG...they make the best ever strawberry shortcake. Ending my birthday weekend with DJ Shok...who played some electro swing music from his band Red Light District that I completely fell in love with.
