Davina & the Vagabonds

Dress: Miranda Mock Neck Fit & Flare Dress by Leota (size M) via Gwynnie Bee
Tights: We Love Colors
Shoes: Fluevog, Hi Choice: Jennifer
Earrings & Necklace: Heidi Daus
Bracelet & Purse: Vintage
Stats: 5'7" 38-32-42
Midnight blue velvet dreamy dramatic dark floral dress with birds on it. I'm not usually into birds, but these were pretty...it felt like a Christmas holiday frock. My only complaint about this dress was that it ran big, at least one size (look at how the waist hits me low & awkward...it was too big & heavy to blouson out there)...otherwise, it was lovely to look at & easy to wear.
Bringing out the burgundy & green.
In person, there was a green this shade in the dress...although it doesn't show up in photos...I chose these shoes because of their color & velvet ribbon. Notice the adorable heart-shaped heels.
The high neckline made it possible to wear this longer Heidi Daus necklace that I've had for a few years...this was my first wearing of it...
Accessories...
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner & eyeshadow in Mildew, Sonic eyeshadow by UD, Natasha Denona eyeshadow in Giving, MAC Burgundy lipliner, & Black Metal Dahlia Lip Tar & nail polish by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics.
I first wore this dress to work, thrifting, & bellydance class. Chartreuse heels I was happy to find...those will be cute this summer. Green tags, 50% off & many cardigans were only $1.99.
The big winner of the day was David...I found all these Jos. A. Bank wool pants...& they all had green tags...so they were about $4 each! I rarely look at pants for him, but these Cutter & Buck plaid shorts caught my eye...& the pants were right there. I scored 10! pairs of nice pants.
I found these Chie Mihara heels for a screaming deal on Poshmark...my intension is to paint the beige area orange...but will that ever happen? They are charming & retro as is...but definitely need more attractive (ribbon?) laces. The hot air balloon dress from Effie's Heart was also a Poshmark purchase. Back during lockdown, I sent money to Michael Waite on Indiegogo to get his vinyl when he made it...but you know how long it takes to get a record pressed these days. I would think now that vinyl has made a comeback...there would be more places churning them out. I made a shrimp curry for dinner before heading out to Stoughton.
Davina & the Vagabonds! Ced in the lounge before the show. Look, it's a girlie! Kate & Jason met me there. It was fun to be at a show with other people sitting next to me that I know.
Davina always puts on a fantastic show...but she seemed extra on fire this night.

Buffalo Nichols // Thrifting

Dress: Sweet Escape Maxi Dress by Free People (size M) via Nuuly
Tights: Snag
Shoes: Fluevog, Firefly: Ficta
Necklace & Earring: Wendy Baker
Bracelets: Vintage
Stats: 5'7" 38-32-42
Pretty colors in this maxi...I love the way the pink & orange popped against the black...dramatic. Great maxi length on me, full tiered skirt, deep (low) pockets, billowy sleeves...the square neckline (front & back) could be worn on or off the shoulders...I kept it on because winter in Wisconsin. This dress would have been better suited for fall or spring...great transition piece. The only negative was the chest smocking didn't go down far enough for me...I had to pull the neckline lower (which made my bra show on the sides) for it to sit under my breasts for an empire waistline...but the elastic kept wanting to ride up & end mid-nipple...not a good look. I still enjoyed wearing this fetching maxi.
Note how one of the tiers ends just below my butt...essentially framing my ass...it looks good though, right?!
My first wearing of these pink Fictas...I also have them in green.
I adore pink & orange together...
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Zero, Wildheart & Blaze eyeshadow from UD, Huda Beauty Coral Obsessions eyeshadow palette, Bang lipliner & lipstick from UD, Sugarpill Cosmetics lipstick in Nectar, Essie nail polish in Forever Family, & ILNP nail polish in Atomic Sherbet.
2 staples for dinner...Spicy Shrimp Masala & Roasted Brussels with Kim Chi & Bacon. The closet purge continues...7 more bags hauled off to Vinny's. Bellydance class! I hardly ever remember to take photos. And since I usually have at least an hour to kill on the west side before class starts...I poked around Vinny's first.
I was especially excited to find these shoes as I love this style & mustard is such a great color.
These were the clothes we brought home from Retique in Milwaukee...it took me a while to go through them & get all the tags off.
I don't often crave fast food...but when I do...Culvers is the place I go...probably once a year. Cooking a simple meal at home...pork roast with sides of roasted sweet potatoes & apples. February Boxy Charm...& a trip to the Stoughton Vinny's. I know, I have a problem.
They were having a special vintage linens event that wasn't of interest to me...too overwhelming & all I'd really want are some fun tablecloths for picnics. I tried on this green wool coat...made in Russia...how often do you see that?! And dresses...
All of them came home with me.
Buffalo Nichols at the Opera House...but first, Ced Ba'etch playing in the lounge...he was wonderful...Django Reinhardt type jazz.
Front row selfies. This is probably the 5th? time I've seen Buffalo Nichols play...he gets better every time.
I adore his voice & his favorite song of mine is How to Love because I like the lyrics (...the way you hurt me showed me how to love...).
Stoughton Vinny's finds...which included an adorable plaid Pendleton wool coat that I spied while in line & whipped off the mannequin...no time to try it on...luckily, it's the perfect fit.

A Raisin In The Sun // Dancing // Wasted // Peter Mulvey & SistaStrings

Dress: V-Neck Floral Maxi Dress by Forever That Girl (size XL) via Nuuly
Cardigan: Time & Tru (size M), thrifted
Shoes: Fly London
Necklace & Earring: Green Goddess Vintage
Earring: etXarte
Bracelet & Purse: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo, Kate, & Me
Stats: 5'7" 39-37-48
In love...orange & black & pattern mixing?! This maxi was made for me. It was a good fit, but a touch big...the straps were adjustable & the elastic in back would have made a great shape had I gone a size down. I think the cardigan hid that well.

Better with the cardigan...but here it is without...
How could I not adore a dress that pairs so well with my favorite color, leopard?
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Perversion, Stila liquid liner in Intense Black, NYX Phoenix eyeshadow palette, Pumpkin lipliner from NYX, Toast lipstick from Bite Beauty, Sugarpill Cosmetics lipstick in Treat, & OPI nail polish in A Woman's Prague-ative.
Not my Clockwork Orange face...I just marvel at the length of my lashes every time I put on mascara. Grand Lash MD. Cutting up market veggies for David to grill for our APT picnic. I love how every time we selfie, he kisses me.
We brought grilled veggies & shrimp with a Thai peanut sauce for dinner.
Unplanned coordination of our autumn palette.
Kate & Jason...caught in the act of being cute.
Kate & Jason brought sparkling wine, tofu, & raspberries. After our picnic, Kate showed us this longer trail up the hill, but as it was already dark...David & I took it the next day instead...which I previously posted. Bundled up in one of my vintage lambswool coats.
A Raisin In The Sun was marvelous...& the acting was outstanding. The plays were fantastic this year, but this shot into 1st place for us.
Beautiful night. Wonderful company.
The second time I wore this dress was for a jam packed Saturday. We began by going to this woman's biannual shoe sale...where I found 4 pairs of shoes & David found some pants. These aren't my favorite Fluevogs...but they are fun colors & it's nice to have comfy slip-on shoes to wear on errands.
Then...on to our final ballroom dancing group class & private lesson. I mean, not forever...but this was my last weekend before surgery, so I have to take a bit of a break.
Here we are learning the Cha Cha...

Back at home...salad making time...Kale Salad with Honeynut Squash, Pomegranate, & Pumpkin Seeds. It wasn't quite pomegranate season yet, so I had to use frozen...not nearly as good. A sunny afternoon for Wasted: Fall Reds. Tart crabapples David picked off Lindsay & Patrick's tree. Cute couple.
Oh, look...another cute couple...with fun shoes!
Drinking delicious reds.
I need a selection of cute autumn & winter hats...but until then, here I am using my summer bonnet to protect me from the sun.
After much drinking of wine...dinner at Ahan.
Yum. David & Jason joined us for dinner, then Kate & I stayed for the show at Bur Oak.
I love that these two phenomenal places share a space.
Peter Mulvey & SistaStrings...our 3rd time seeing the sisters. Marvelous show with my girlie & a fabulous end to a wonderful long day.
