Final Days of Film Fest

Dress: Color Block Hem True Wrap Dress by eShakti (size 28) via Gwynnie Bee
Cardigan: Isaac Mizrahi Live (size 3x), thrifted
Tights: We Love Colors Microfiber tights in Navy
Shoes: Xhilaration, thrifted
All Jewelry: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
I adored the 70s colors in this eShakti dress...it's made out of similar heavy cotton t-shirt material as Effie's Heart dresses. I also appreciate a true wrap dress as I can control the fit a bit. Cute, comfy, a bit too short for my taste. It was fun to accessorize & pull out all the autumnal shades, especially the yellows.
Holy buckets, it was a windy day...I can't believe we got some shots of me without this dress over my head.
Let's talk about these tights from We Love Colors. I typically buy their nylon/lycra tights, which are lovely...however, they do tend to be saggy around the ankles (this is the most common complaint I hear). These navy tights are their microfiber ones & they most certainly do not have that problem. They sent these to me to test out before they expanded their microfiber sizing years ago. I love them. My only issue is that they are a snugger fit & my nails are pointy & I poked through them 3-4 times putting them on...however, this will not apply to most of you. Next time I'll put on latex gloves & see how that goes. As I replace my tights, I will get more colors of this kind.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Torch, Huda Beauty Coral Obsessions eyeshadow palette, Treat liquid lip color by Sugarpill Cosmetics, & OPI nail polish in Rising Star.
Day six of film fest...we had two! meals. We are usually lucky to fit one in. David & I ate fabulous pizza from Cafe Porta Alba for lunch...& got dinner to go with Kate at Forage Kitchen, which is another new delightful restaurant at Hilldale. It was even nice enough to eat outside while standing in line.
Every year David & I buy too many film fest tickets...26, 28...it's too many for us. By Wednesday, day 7, we had 4 films to see...we skipped all of them. Uncle!

We thought we had enough of our orange cork flooring from the kitchen to cover our basement stairs, but not quite. Our color was discontinued & our choices were too boring...so we decided to go with three colorful shades of marmoleum.
And the next day...it snowed. David found another rusty heating grate for our hallway at Decon.
The final film of the fest with my best girlie! In terrible theater lighting. Her Smell. I don't recommend it. My favorite film of these last days was a documentary, The Disappearance of My Mother.
My merry Boxy Charm box. And our headboard (there is actually an entire frame, but we are only using this)...I am going to use leather paint to color the tufted part...either a darker gold or burgundy.

Wisconsin Film Fest, Days IV & V

Dress: Dauphine Dress in Herringbone by Effie's Heart (size 4x) via GB Shop
Leggings: Torrid (size 4x)
Shoes: Preview International, thrifted
Earring: etXarte
Necklace: former Etsy shop
Bracelets: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo, Kate, & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
I always reach for Effie's Heart dresses when I want to be cute & comfy, as they are made out of heavy t-shirt cotton. I last wore this dress for Thanksgiving 2017...& have since bought it from the GB Shop. The high/low hem isn't my favorite, but otherwise it's lovely.
I guess it doesn't always have to be an explosion of color...?
At least I've got some pattern mixing going on with the sugar skull leggings & bits of red.
My make-up with this outfit included...NYX eyeliner in Oxblood; Bang Bang, Turn On, & Young Love eyeshadow by Urban Decay; & MAC lipstick in Russian Red.
In addition to wearing this outfit to see many films during film fest...we tried bartaco for the first time between movies. I'm not into chains, but this place was delicious. We all got various tacos (David got his wrapped in lettuce) & other nibbles...10/10 would recommend. Also, the yummiest house-made ginger grapefruit agua fresca.
We ate a ton of these pixie mandarins during the fest...David would often give me some before the show started & down my dress was the easiest place to store them. They started a new thing this year...you can get a line number for your next movie, then return 15 minutes before starting time to place yourself in line in the appropriate place...it was chaos until they began writing the numbers in chalk on the sidewalk. Cute dress spotting.
During these two days, our favorite movies were Leona (Mexico) & Yomeddine (Egypt), pictured below. Yomeddine won best movie at this year's fest by audience vote...it was also David's favorite film of the fest.

Wisconsin Film Fest, Days II & III

Dress: Strawberry Patch Perfect Wrap Dress by Leota (size 4L) via Gwynnie Bee
Tights: We Love Colors in Scarlett Red
Shoes: Ann Taylor Loft, thrifted
Necklace: Wendy Baker
Earring, Pin, & Bracelets: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo, Jason, & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
Strawberry Patch perfection! The fit was fabulous on this darling dress with strawberries. The only tiny thing amiss was that the top gaped too much to wear without pining it...luckily, I had a vintage strawberry pin that was up to the job. I will buy this dress once GB retires it.
I tried to make the rest of me look like a strawberry to match. I have a weakness for dresses with fruit on them. Give me all the fruit covered dresses.
I wish this shorter side of my hair always lay down nice & flat like this...it likes to curl up...my hair does not really want to be straight.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Mars, Too Faced eyeshadow in Golden Nugget & Showgirl, Year of the Dragon eyeshadow from Mon Ennui Cosmetics, 714 lipstick by UD, & OPI nail polish in You Make Me Vroom!
I wore this adorable frock to days two & three of the film fest. Jason took this selfie of all of us at the screening of, The Trouble with You...it was hilarious & you should run out & see it.
David & Kate...styling at the film fest...
Turn the lights down low...the beginning of the trailer that is shown before every film...& spring poking out of the ground. My other favorite film of these two days...Bathtubs Over Broadway...a wonderful documentary about one man's obsession with industrial musicals. You need to see it.
This song from Bathtubs needs to play every time you walk into my bathroom...

Wisconsin Film Festival, Day I

Dress: Black Floral Red Roses Ruffle Dress by Torrid (size 4x)
Jacket: ?, thrifted
Tights: We Love Colors in Scarlett Red
Shoes: Nine West, thrifted
Earring: etXarte
Necklace: Wendy Baker
Bracelet: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo, Kate, & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
I didn't have any GB at home to wear...so I dug into my own closet, which is vast. I grabbed this cute frock at Torrid while picking up an online order of leggings from the store...clearance was buy 1, get 2 free...hard to say no to that! I especially adore the ruffles at the neck & waist...& that back is super fun.
It was incredibly windy on this day...so difficult for photos, although the jacket helped keep the ruffles down.
I imagine this jacket was worn by a woman about to retire...then off it went to the thrift store where I found it & made it mine.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Overdrive; UD eyeshadow in Bang Bang, Devilish, & Turn On; Year of the Dragon eyeshadow by Mon Ennui Cosmetics; Russian Red lipstick from MAC; & OPI nail polish in Christmas Gone Plaid.
I first wore this outfit to vote with David...then have lunch at Gotham Bagels during Madison Chef Week. Several area chef's make up sandwiches for this annual contest (it was the only event we went to this year). David & I were both sold on the mystery Dan Fox sandwich (Heritage Tavern). I thought...the balls on him to make his sandwich secret when the votes are based on how many people buy your creation. Well, it turns out he didn't get his ingredients to the restaurant, so there was no sandwich. But we sampled four others...Back Over the Wall, The Sardinian, Breakfast with Banh Mi (David's favorite), & Bendix Diner (my fav). But they were all ridiculously delicious.
While going over the candidates together in the morning...I was browsing Craig's List & saw this dazzling vintage ornate gold table with a marble top for sale...nearly 2 hours away. David agreed it was glorious & we set up a time to pick it up...which turned out to be the same day...after work at 7:30. It was even more stunning in person *swoon*...this table is totally my thing. While David was loading it up with the husband...the wife kept bringing out other things she thought I might like...those gold metal candelabra are extremely heavy & gorgeous...then came the lamps...& she gave me the marble lamp for free. This woman buys whole storage units & barns full of stuff & keeps all the MCM stuff for herself & sells the rest. She was telling me about an opulent red & gold throne she has stored at her sister's place that she thinks I would completely fall in love with. I told her to text us photos...I think we'll have to poke her because WOW.
I wore this outfit on another day to eat lunch at Brother's Three with David, check out driveway/sidewalk ideas, run errands, work, & pick up fresh eggs at Angie's...Freddie is still cute.
And finally...I wore this dress to bring these amazing windows home from Deconstruction Inc...they were formally from Chocolatarian that burned down last year. We are going to use them for the built-in cabinet in our dining room that we will build to replace the current one.
The first night of The Wisconsin Film Festival 2019!!!
There was Ben & an adorable trailer. The first film was an Icelandic movie called, Woman at War. I highly recommend it.

Farmers' Market Tattoo: Eggplant & Ramps

Dress: Purple Floral Fit & Flare Dress (size 4x) by Eva Rose via Gwynnie Bee
Cardigan: Talbots (size 3x)
Leggings: Torrid (size 4x)
Shoes: Ann Taylor Loft, thrifted
Earring: Wendy Baker
Necklace & Bracelet: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
I simply adore Eva Rose dresses...this peony one was gorgeous & fit just right. Most of the Eva Rose dresses are cotton with a bit of stretch, but this one was a textured polyester/spandex. With pockets. Is it still pattern mixing when all your patterns are floral? Let's say, yes.
Thank you, Eva Rose, for getting the armholes the right size.
A peek of new vegetables in my farmers' market tattoo...eggplant & ramps.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Mars; Dragon, Alchemy, & Alien eyeshadow from UD; MAC lipstick in "O"; & OPI nail polish in Christmas Gone Plaid.
I first wore this dress to get tattooed by the marvelous magical Maggie...
Then, on another day to check out the vintage flea market at the Barrymore...where we found me some bracelets...one with a matching necklace & earring.
My office ceiling...the light fixture is missing its shades...they are currently beige, but I am going to dye them. Many dyes are on their way here from Dharma Trading Co. I wonder what color they will end up?
