American Buffalo on A Sunny Day

Dress: Lace Print Dress in Blue by Lucie Lu (size 5x) via Gwynnie Bee (use my link to get your first month for $10 & help me earn an extra garment for a month)
Leggings: Roamans
Sandals: Dansko
Cardigan: Avenue
Necklace & Bracelet: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me (iPhone)
I wore this outfit to see American Buffalo by David Mamet at American Players Theatre with Super Boo. I loved the fit of this Lucie Lu dress (they run small, size up), but I preferred this print in green...that dress was definitely a why didn't I buy it...what was I thinking?! The surplice neckline & empire waist are flattering...& the lace pattern is charmingly feminine, yet much more casual than an actual lace dress.
We had a difficult time taking photos because it was incredibly sunny out.
This play, set in a junk shop, wins for my favorite set of the season...there were so many treasures to discover. The play itself was also a wonderful treat.
The sun set my hair ablaze.

Bubble Music Festival

Dress: Tiers of Joy Dress in Orchid by Kiyonna (size 4x) via Gwynnie Bee (use my link to get your first month for $10 & I get a free garment upgrade for a month)
Tights: Catherines
Shoes: Vintage
Pin & Bracelet: Vintage
Earring: etXarte
Photography: Super Boo & Me (iPhone)
I wore this lace dress to go out to eat & see some bands. It was adorable & reminded me of the babydoll dresses of the 90s. It seemed sexy, yet romantic. It came to me with a few small holes in the sleeve, but that seems inevitable with lace. The surplice neckline needed the pin to hold it closed. This was another great LBD, completely darling. The blush lining made it a perfect pairing for Urban Decay's Naked 3 eyeshadow palette.
Kate, Angie, & I saw 2 bands...& a bit of one that was finishing up. The venue was fantastic, The Playhouse at Overture, which Forward Theatre uses for their plays...fabulous sound & comfortable. We were mainly there to see Seasaw, which I discovered because the bartender at High Noon was playing them before a show & I liked it so much that I had to ask her who it was. They are a folk/pop girlie duo. We stayed for Oh, My Love! because they are another local band we like...but honestly, they have never sounded better than when Kate & I discovered them playing at farmers' market.
The Bubble Music Festival was a 3 day event that took place all over Madison & I'll definitely keep an eye out for it next year. It seems like a wonderful way to discover new bands.
Before music, Angie & I had dinner at Vientiane Palace, delicious! And after music, the 3 of us went for Pelmeni, yum!
I don't wear this earring often because it is too long to wear with necklaces, but is a perfect pairing with a pin.

The Pines @ The Shitty Barn

Dress: Nadine Cold Shoulder Dress by Mynt 1792 (size 4x) via Gwynnie Bee (use my link to get your first month for $10 & I get a free garment for a month)
Teggings: Re/Dress
Sandals: Dansko
Necklace: Babil & Bijou
Longest Necklace: Vintage
Bracelet: Vintage
Earring: etXarte
Glasses: lafont

I wore this flirty swing dress to see a band with Super Boo & Kate. I liked this LBD...I thought the cut was flattering...however, the arms were incredibly tight & it had a weird form-fitting lining that I had to scrunch up so it wouldn't show in front. In looking at photos of this dress on Mynt 1792, it is supposed to peek out, but I preferred it stay hidden. The fabric was quite thick which was nice for this fall evening, but might not work in hotter months. I was not initially a fan of the cold shoulder trend, but once I tried it...I found it sexy...womanly & mysterious.
 Why not?
I love this picture of Super Boo & I...
 Pretty Girlies!
Your Shitty Choices...this cracks me up every time...
The Pines. I was so close, I had to lean back in my chair to fit the whole band in. This show was amazing.
I have a whole hilarious series of Super Boo photobombing my pictures...this was before I knew he was there...SO CUTE!
 This was an enchanted evening.

YumYum Fest

Dress: Phoebe Dress in Darling Mums by Cherry Velvet (size 3x) via Gwynnie Bee (use this link to get your first month for $10 & I'll get a free garment upgrade for a month)
Teggings: Re/Dress
Cardigan: Jessica Howard (size 24)
Hat: Target
Sandals: Born
Necklace: Vintage Miriam Haskell
Earring: Wendy Baker
Photography: Kate & Me (iPhone)
I wore this ensemble to the first ever YumYum Fest with Kate & Super Boo. This dress nearly didn't make it out of the house...but look how well it goes with my hat! I had to make it work. Other than being too white, it was too tight...this is my regular Cherry Velvet size, but this one runs a tad small...but I was going to be standing the whole time at the food fest, so it was perfect! Also, I managed not to get *any* food on me...who am I??
My first stop was Heritage Tavern, which ended up being my favorite food item of the day. Porchetta with chili aioli, stone ground mustard, pickled red onion, basil on a bun, topped with chicharone. Soooooo good.
All the food was excellent & local. And yummy enough to deserve at least 2 yums.
Our dessert, blueberry shortcake with coconut foam, was so delicious that Kate sucked on the wrapper it came in.
Just as good as the food, were the drinks! Barmadillo, a renovated 1956 Airstream Trailer, served me a most delightful drink, a Lemon Zeppelin, made with Lillet Blanc, lemon, ginger pineapple shrub, bittercube bitters, & bubbles. Then there were rosé slushies & snowcones! And Mrs. Holloway, a cherry chocolate chili ginger bubbly drink. I like bubbles.
This hat! I had tried it on at Target while Kate was picking out belts, but I left the store without it...but I couldn't stop thinking about how marvelous it was...so I went back & it was on clearance for $4.50! I love it & it was most needed on this sunny sunny day.
The bartender at the Barmadillo stopped mid-sentence to tell me...you're so bright! I'm not sure he meant it as a compliment, but I felt like someone's ditzy aunt all day & it was fun.

eShakti

 Dresses: eShakti (no longer available)
I have been lusting over dresses on eShakti for years, but didn't take the plunge until last month when they were having a buy one, get one free sale. I bought both dresses in a 4x & the floral dress fit perfectly, the paisley dress, however, is HUGE...like another person could fit in there with me. Both dresses are cotton & well made...but if you see a fabric you like, snap it up because their prints don't stick around long.
The grayish brown & mustard paisley trapeze frock may be big, but I wore this to several garage sales & it was just so easy to throw on, like wearing my nightgown. I'm considering selling it, but it's sooooo comfortable.
This floral dress fit like it was made for me, my only complaint is my bra peeks out a bit under the arms. My favorite thing about this dress is it has a snap on the v-neck to keep it closed...love!

The Doctor's Dilemma

Dress: Scalloped Boudoir Lace Dress in Blush Orchid by Kiyonna (size 5x) via Gwynnie Bee (if you sign up using my link, I get a free garment for a month)
Shoes: Simply Vera by Vera Wang
Necklace: A Luscious Thing
Earring: etXarte
Photography: Super Boo & Me (iPhone)
I wore this lace frock to see an outdoor play, The Doctor's Dilemma, with Super Boo. These lace dresses from Kiyonna are lovely, but I feel they fit more snuggly than other dresses from that brand, so I size up in this style. I've had  2 other versions of this dress, in black with nude lining & my favorite of the 3, in burgundy. It's a perfect date night dress, sexy with just the right amount of cleavage & oh, so comfortable to wear.
We stopped on our way to the play to take pictures around the back of a building & there was a woman in the house next door doing dishes & watching us through her window...she finally yelled out to ask us if we wanted some photos together. Midwesterners are so sweet.
There are 2 vehicles that drive around Madison that I get excited when I see...The Wienermobile & this rubber ducky covered car.
Kate got me this necklace as a NYE present several years ago & I adore it.

Labor Day Fire

Dress: Irene Hi Lo Tank Dress in Fuchsia Tie Dye by SWAK (size 4x) via Gwynnie Bee (if you sign up with my link I get a free garment for a month)
Teggings: Re/Dress
Sandals: Born
Necklace: Vintage
Earring: Wendy Baker
Photography: Super Boo & Me (iPhone)
I wore this fun dress to a backyard fire at our house on Labor Day. I'm fairly certain this is the first time I have ever worn tie dye. The colors in this dress were so pretty! I thought the length & fit on this were great, the fabric, however, was terrible...heavy, hot, & slippery. It was great for a one time wear at an outside gathering with friends.
Super Boo set up the backyard for fire. The chairs are all garage sale finds.
Kate brought us rosé to start off the evening. We grilled asparagus over the fire, which is just about the best thing ever. We also made grilled cheese, hot dogs, & of course, s'mores. Angie brought some homemade marshmallows & graham crackers. Food made over an open flame just tastes amazing.
I adored this purple & orange combination...
I bought this necklace at a garage sale to take apart for the gorgeous orange beads, but I may keep it as is.
