Thanksgiving with Brian

Cardigan: Isaac Mizrahi Live
Tights: Snag
Shoes: Born
Necklace & Earring: The Embellishing Room
Bracelets: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo, Chris, & Me
Stats: 5'7" 43-41-57
Ever since wearing this mushroom dress in purple from Gwynnie Bee, I've been obsessed with the mustard version. So, I decided to buy it for Thanksgiving. Fabulous in every way...the cotton dress would be better suited to summer, but this pattern & color way are pure autumn.
And how perfect is this location to take pictures of my outfit?!
I clearly need some mushroom jewelry (goes & looks on Etsy)...
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Double Life, Huda Beauty eyeshadow in Blood Moon, Agate & Carnelian eyeshadow by Natasha Denona, NYX lipliner in Pumpkin, Pumpkin lipstick by Kat von D, UD lipstick in Bang, & A Woman's Prague-ative nail polish from OPI.
I wore this dress for Thanksgiving with Brian in Munising. I made Angie's cranberry jalapeƱo relish...but I added orange to it, which made it even better. Keira helping us cook. I also brought some wine. Good thing Brian & I wear the same size shoes because it snowed out & of course I didn't bring any boots.
At Brian's brother & sister-in-law's house...view of Lake Superior. The house I grew up in had a great view of the lake from the kitchen window & it was always fun to see the iron ore boats coming in. Crackers & cream cheese to go with the cranberry relish...& some Michigan wine.
Brian's sister-in-law, Chris, kindly offered to take a picture of Brian & I in our coordinating ensembles.
Thanksgiving! Not as tasty as the food at Angie's, but it was wonderful to spend the day with Brian & his incredibly nice family.

Visiting Brian

Dress: Succulent Green Sigrid Dress by Effie's Heart (size 1x) via Gwynnie Bee
Cardigan: ?, thrifted
Shoes: Dansko
Earring: etXarte
Bracelet: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo, Brian, & Me
Stats: 5'7" 43-41-57
Effie's Heart...the masters of cute & casual. I think this is the first time I've worn this style of their dress...great fit, length, & of course...pockets.
A very blustery day...also, the camera ran out of charge so this back shot was taken on my iPhone.
This is my first time wearing this necklace from Gayle...I pluck it out of the case quite a bit, but some other babble always wins out.
My make-up with this outfit included...NYX eyeliner in Gypsy Blue, Blood Moon & Nefertiti eyeshadow from Huda Beauty, MAC lip liner in Chicory, Fresh Moroccan & New York Apple lipstick by MAC, & Colors by Llarowe nail polish in Show Me the Love!
After PT car selfie. New dresses...mushrooms from Eva Rose & tiki drinks from Cherry Velvet.
New pretties from Colleen Toland. That black necklace got sent back & exchanged for the one I ordered (black & gold).
Kate & Jason came over for dinner & I made us delicious food, of course. We had Coconut-Poached Walleye with Bok Choy served on a bed on roasted cauliflower, as well as Brussels sprouts with Pecans & Pomegranate & 2 lovely bottles of wine: a Pinot Noir VIN GRIS & a Vouvray. Doggie love. And what?! How did I not take any pictures of my bezzer?! I guess she wasn't doggie cuddling.
Driving to the U.P. to visit Brian...snow & my Lake Superior. Kiera doing tricks for treats.
Brian thought we should go out to dinner at Tracey's since they completely changed their menu since we last ate there...so I went wearing no make-up & my driving all day outfit. Munising is a tiny town of just over 2,000 people, but this restaurant would be worthy of a much larger city. We started out with some drinks, like you do...Brian had a hard apple cider & I drank a Michigan Mule. We shared 4 small plates, beginning with some amazing crispy Brussels sprouts & a reuben egg roll.
Next up, spicy lobster roll, followed by Pinconning cheese curds. I would get all of these things again with the exception of the $14 curds...nothing special. Brian with our food & his winter spiced old-fashioned.
This house by Brian's was all decked out for Christmas...last time I was here, it was Halloween.

Carsie Blanton at Thrasher Opera House

Skirt: Tea Time Skirt by Eva Rose (size 1x) via Gwynnie Bee
Blouse: ?, thrifted
Tights: Snag
Shoes: Bongo, thrifted
Earring: etXarte
Necklace: Wendy Baker
Bracelets: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 43-41-57
Looking at these pictures...I don't love this outfit...it needs something to pull it together. Also, the blouse & bra were huge on me, which didn't help. The skirt fit well, had pockets, but was perhaps a bit short. I prefer Eva Rose dresses to their skirts...or just overall like dresses better.
I did like the bubble/dot theme I had going on throughout the outfit...the necklace, top, bracelet, & shoes.
I think I need to get Wendy to make me a coordinating earring for this necklace...I never have anything quite right to wear with it.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Abyss; Cotton Candy, Totally Fetch, Sprinkles, & Satin Sheets eyeshadow from Too Faced; NYX lipliner in Fuchsia; Fuchsia Fusion lipstick by NYX; & OPI nail polish in I Sea You Wear OPI.
I had to replenish my nighttime moisturizer, so I went to the place I used to get facials...back in the before times. A little trip to Ulta & the co-op.
I love Brussels sprouts SO much...I've had them nearly every day for the past 3 months. Erika came to clean our house...it was even more amazing than I thought it would be. She washed our windows. Angie gave us 2 jars of garlic confit...yum. I've been making the most fabulous recipes from NYT...including this dinner, salmon with fennel & pistachios, along with Brussels with pecans & pomegranate.
My tiny Ulta haul. For the first time in decades...I did not qualify for any special privileges at either Ulta or Sephora. I usually spend over $1000 a year at each store. I decided I didn't need any more make-up (other than to replace things I run out of) this year, & it was not even difficult to stick to that. Kate, Jason, & I traveled to Green Lake, WI to Thrasher Opera House to see Carsie Blanton.
There was a room with an art exhibit that we wandered through. Sitting in the front row...these chairs were extra cushy.
Me & the girlie. Carsie's friend, Milton, opened the show. I had watched him live online a few times during the pandemic...playing with Carsie's band.
Carsie! In person! I will never take live music for granted ever again. She was marvelous & I loved her leopard fishnets (let me tell you about ADHD...I constantly get distracted while writing here...just now, I went to Amazon & added some cheetah print fishnets to my wishlist so I don't forget to buy some. That only happens ~a dozen times every hour no matter what I'm doing).
One couple got up & walked out...her song lyrics do not hide that she has opinions, including political...not sure how you miss that?! It was a lovely evening & Carsie liked my outfit. And when I went to bed that night, I noticed Erika made my Kleenex box cute.

Best House Cleaner Ever

Dress: Floral Print Midi Dress by Adrianna Papell (size 16) via Gwynnie Bee
Cardigan: Issac Mizrahi
Shoes: Basic Editions, thrifted
Necklace & Earring: Wendy Baker
Bracelet: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo, Kate, & Me
Stats: 5'7" 43-41-57
Pretty dress on a dreary day...it was wetly snowing while taking these photos. You can barely tell here, but the best part of this dress was the halter neckline...showing off the seductive shoulders. The brightly colorful floral print was gorgeous, but I didn't care for the blousy waist area...which the cardigan helped define. Great length & ran true to size.
Another perfect dress for these floral shoes I picked up for a few dollars at Savers...oh, how I miss that store.
This is my first time wearing this matching necklace & earring from the lovely Wendy...
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Abyss; Analogue, Legend, & Misfit eyeshadow by Kat von D; NYX lipliner in Orange County; NYX lipstick in 507; Bang lipstick from MAC; & OPI nail polish in I Sea You Wear OPI.
Angie had brought us some pumpkins for our front porch...& we gutted them for the seeds before it was too late...I LOVE freshly roasted pumpkin seeds. My new BookBook for my iPhone finally arrived...this must be my 10th-12th one of these? It always amuses me when someone asks me if it's a bible. We did the BEST act of self care EVER...we hired an amazing woman to clean our house. She is fabulous. A walk with my boo in the neighborhood. You know, because I can walk now.
Bret Helms playing live to promote the Audra kickstarter for releasing Going To The Theatre on vinyl...which I'm happy to say, was fully funded. A bit of west side farmers' marketing with the girlie. I love the colorful array of cauliflower...I got one of each.
Carsie & her boys playing live online...right before I got to see them in person. The final farmers' market of the year...outside.
So many squash...what will Kate decide? My favorites are honey nut & delicata. Thursday night dinner with Angie & Freddie...burgers on the grill, rare; roasted Brussels sprouts; parsnip fries; & kale salad...with a glass of red.

Shovels & Rope

Dress: Alanna Maxi Dress by Anthropologie (size 1x) via Nuuly
Cardigan: Croft & Barrow, thrifted
Shoes: Franco Sarto
Earring: Kerala Rose
Bracelet: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 43-41-57
This dress was my vintage 60s fantasy come true...the substantial textured fabric combined with the stunning pattern made me not care a bit if there was no shape to this maxi...nothing a cardigan can't fix. It ran a bit large, but had pockets, & was the ideal length.

Kind of a tent without something to give it shape...but so pretty. This would be a lovely dress to walk the beach in on vacation as a coverup to your bathing suit.
Even though purple is traditionally a cool color, I still think it looks flattering against my warm red hair.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in VooDoo, UD Ultraviolet palette, Grape lipliner by MAC, UD Vice liquid lipstick in Flashback, POP nail polish.
My November Boxy Charm had a Violet Voss palate that I adore. Doggies being cute. A delicious dinner of Buttery Kimchi Shrimp & Roasted Cauliflower with Bacon, Olives, & Crisp Parmesan (both NYT recipes).
I wore this dress to see Shovels & Rope at The Stoughton Opera House back in November. They had *everything* they'd ever released available on vinyl...I had to narrow down my selection to just 4. I loved the pianos as a bar. I have a piano we are going to convert into a liquor cabinet. Someday.
I discovered this band thanks to Spotify recommending them to me...I think. Carry Me Home was in my top 10 played songs of 2020. They were fantastic live...& they learned how to play the accordion last year. That's SO much better than making bread.
