Dan Savage

Dress: Floral Tie Sleeve Swing Dress from Love & Legend by Addition Elle (size 4x) via Gwynnie Bee (use my link to get your first month free & help me earn GB credit)
Tights: Catherines
Shoes: Franco Sarto, thrifted
Earring & Necklace: Wendy Baker
Bracelets: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
I loved this dress & should have bought it...but, I wasn't sure how the jersey fabric would hold up & those sleeve ties kept coming undone. I'm a sucker for a swing dress & the pattern & colors in this one were so pretty...I wore it several times before returning it. It was a good swingy length & I felt comfortable wearing it with black tights, but I also dressed it down & wore black leggings. Incredibly comfortable soft lightweight fabric...could be worn all year round.
It was cold enough to wear a cardigan, but I didn't want to cover up the cute tie & ruching detail on the sleeves.
There are bits of blue in the dress that match my shoes...but you can only see them up close.
My makeup with this outfit included...NYX eyeliner in Jet Black, NYX Ultimate Shadow Palette in Warm Neutrals, Nebula & Synergy eyeshadow from Kat von D, NYX Liquid Suede lipstick in Kitten Heels, & Little Red Wagon nail polish by OPI.
Another glorious candy necklace from the fabulous Wendy...I'd have so many fewer options if it weren't for her colorful creations.

I wore this dress to help Angie & Toby serve dinner at a men's homeless shelter, & on another day to farmers' market with Kate...check out all that oozing yolk in that breakfast sandwich I picked up at Underground...on an in-house made everything bagel...Yum! that made my mouth so happy.
Immediately after taking these outfit photos...David & I went to see Dan Savage speak...he's always hilarious & does a fantastic job answering audience questions...this one guy's writing was so bad Dan couldn't read it...so he outed himself & asked out loud while Dan munched on chips...ever since Washington State (where he lives) legalized pot, he gets high on stage...which was funny the first time...but now I think it's a bit sad he can't stay straight for two hours as his answers are much more insightful during the first half of the show. Also, I had to look up what the letters on his shirt stood for...Impeach the Mother F*cker Already.

Mint Mark

Dress: Flirty Flounce Vintage Floral Wrap Dress by Kiyonna (size 4x) via Gwynnie Bee (use my link to get your first month free & help me earn GB credit)
Cardigan: ?, thrifted
Tights: We Love Colors in Teal
Shoes: Born, thrifted
Earring & Necklace: Wendy Baker
Bracelets: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo, Kate, & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
These flirty flounce wrap dresses from Kiyonna are always a hit with me. Gwynnie Bee used to carry a lot of these...but this is the first new one I've seen in a while. I've also worn this dress in black,  evergreen, & many other colors & own it in red & black & white dots. Kiyonna makes fantastic fitting wrap dresses, but this is my favorite style as the ruffles add a bit of interest without being too cutesy.
Floral dress, floral cardigan, floral shoes, floral jewelry...flower power ensemble.
I wore this outfit to work & to go out with Kate.
My makeup with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Deep End, Anastasia eyeshadow in Venetian Red & Primavera, Huda Electric Obsessions eyeshadow palette, NYX Liquid Suede lipstick in Kitten Heels, Quince lipstick from Bite Beauty, Teal the Cows Come Home nail polish by OPI.
The girlie & I had been trying to find time to try Mint Mark, a new restaurant in the hood that everyone has been raving about. I like what they've done with the space...& they make a great Moscow Mule.
Kate & I nibbled our way through the menu...roasted cauliflower, white bean spread with flatbread, chicken liver on cinnamon raisin toast, kale with a cold poached egg, sweet potato gnocchi, & sauerkraut pierogi. It was all tasty, but neither of us understood what all the hype was about & this will most likely be our only visit to Mint Mark...especially since we've both moved to different parts of Madison.
This Monkey Gland cocktail was the only thing I wasn't sure about...things that make you go hmmmmm. But check out that woman's fabulous coat! The next day I had lunch with Kate & Jason at Banzo & I took a picture of their parking lot as a possible photo shoot location...colors!

The Harmaleighs at Crescendo

Dress: Lollidot 40's Keyhole Dress in Jewel Teal by Scarlett & Jo (size 28)
Cardigan: Lane Bryant (size 22/24), thrifted
Tights: We Love Colors in Yellow
Shoes: Clarks Artisan
Earring: etXarte
Necklace: Wendy Baker
Bracelets: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
I like not having any dresses from GB at home...because then I get to wear my own neglected frocks. I've had this Scarlet & Jo dress for over a year. I bought 5 dresses on deep discount & this is number 3. Unfortunately, the first dress of theirs I chose to wear was a disaster...the cheapest quality dress I've ever worn. But luckily, the others have all been fabulous (I've now worn them all, coming soon to the blog), especially this luxurious blue velvet
This dotty dress was part of the 40s inspired collection from S&J...it's a stretch rayon jersey with keyholes both in front & back & short flutter sleeves. For some reason...S&J puts shoulder pads in the majority of their dresses...I always cut them out. This dress fit like a dream & I wore it to work & to see a show with Kate.
This cardigan is one of my favorite thrift store finds...paisley & sequins...this is my first time wearing it, as well as these teal Clarks.
My makeup with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Junkie; UD eyeshadow in Fringe, Sinful, & Alter; Buttercupcake eyeshadow from Sugarpill; Winterberry lipstick by Bite Beauty; & CIA=Color is Awesome nail polish from OPI.
I'm not sure why or how...but this was our first time seeing a band at Crescendo. It's like an indoor Shitty Barn...which is funny because a band I discovered at The Barn last summer is what brought the girlie & I here. Lost Lakes, a Madison band, opened...but we were here for The Harmaleighs from Nashville.
These girls have lovely voices & are fierce song writers...you should check them out.

Wisconsin Film Fest Contemplation Cocktails

Dress: Circle Dress in Teal by Leota (size 5L) via Gwynnie Bee (use my link to get your first month free & help me earn GB credit)
Shoes: Merona, thrifted
Earring: eBay
Necklace: Wendy Baker
Bracelets: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo, Kate, & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
I loved this teal fit & flare with its textured fabric & circle print. The heavy jersey hung nicely & was a great length. However, this brand is confusing me lately...Leota used to fit me perfectly in their size 5L, but the last few dresses in that size have been too big on me...so they fit more true to size. I wanted to wear a cardigan with this outfit, but there was so much extra fabric on top...nothing was laying right.
I adore this color combination...embracing color means I have so many more choices. I know it's hard to believe...but before GB I wore black, burgundy, brown, dark purple, & moss green. That's it. So, none of the hues in this outfit were in my past wardrobe. I'm so glad I rediscovered the rainbow.
This dress had a low scooped back that a lot of girls wore in the front...but I preferred it this way.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Abyss, UD eyeshadow in Junkshow, Huda Beauty Electric Obsessions palette, Winterberry lipstick from Bite Beauty, Crush lipstick by UD, & OPI nail polish in You're A Pisa Work.
Girlie cocktails & eats at Merchant...it's become a yearly tradition the Friday after the film fest guide is released. We share our picks & try to make a reasonable schedule before tickets go on sale the next morning.
It was the 6th anniversary of my best friend, Shane, taking his life...so I wore his symbol, the fleur-de-lis...in his memory. I miss his laugh every day.
