Preppy Stripes

Dress: Green Stanton Dress by Hutch (size 5x) via Gwynnie Bee
Teggings: Re/Dress
Shoes: Chinese Laundry
Earring: etXarte
Necklaces & Bracelet: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
The pretty green & pink stripes drew me to this dress...even though it was a shapeless shift...but where am I going? And my GB closet is tiny...so, why not? I sized up so I would have hip/belly/butt room...which, of course...made it too large on top. It was fine for a week of doing teletherapy. Also, check out the excellent color match on these teggings.
These shoes were part of the $10 shoes I bought off eBay...they are a creme & tan snake print & the best match in my closet for this outfit. A bit of subtle pattern mixing.
A green smokey eye & piles of pink jewelry to bring out the pink stripes. I feel almost preppy.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Mildew, UD eyeshadow in Mildew, Dominique Cosmetics eyeshadow in Eternal Light, Big Bang lipstick from UD, MAC Lipglass in Viva Glam VI, & Dragon nail polish by A England.
Several months ago, I brought these leopard LaFont frames with me to my eye appointment to get the prescription updated. David bought them for me nearly 20 years ago. I finally decided to pick them up & drop some other frames off (these are my computer glasses & the other ones will be for distance). I passed though downtown which is covered in BLM art. This red/green/black bracelet is from a French designer, Marion Godart, that I found on eBay. Sean Hayes with a new accompanist on piano.
The Dr. Martens site had some 50% off boots...& I couldn't resist these plaid ones. Also, 2 different veggie patterned cotton fabrics for making summer dresses. Someday. And! A video chat with my girlie! I was going to go over to her place & sit on the lawn in the shade, but, I was feeling slow & it was hot...so we decided on next weekend instead.
Yesterday, we got take-out pizza from Sal's...yum...& ate it while watching tv. A bit of live entertainment on Facebook...CeCe painting a stencil she created...& a surprise Mary Lou Lord...which caused me to listen to her on Spotify for the rest of the night.

Retro Plumage

Dress: Retro Plumage Augusta Dress by Hutch (size 4x) via Gwynnie Bee
Teggings: Re/Dress
Shoes: Fly London
All Jewelry: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo, Kate, & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
This dress was spectacular...I mean just look at that fabulous retro pattern...the only thing that could have been improved upon was if the beige plumage had been green. The fit & length on this dress were great...I'll buy it if it shows up in the shop...but I truly do not need another dress.
The light was terrible...but I wanted to take photos of this dress in front of our retro garage door.
Accessorizing with orange, the color of fun...
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Roach, Nars Mediteranee eyeshadow duo, Citrine & Carnelian eyeshadow by Natasha Denona, Coral Plated Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour by MAC, & OPI nail polish in Suzi Needs a Loch-Smith.
Tracey finished my marvelous mirror...it is perfectly gaudy & so ME! She really gets me.
The Lovers, in color. And...a big box of shoes from eBay...10 pairs from one seller, ~$10 each. I guess I miss the big shoe hauls I used to get from Savers.
The shoes on the left are all staying as is...however, the shoes on the right are going to be painted more fun colors with Angelus leather paint. Three of the as is shoes were not included in the box of ten, but were from other sellers.
Porch visit with my girlie & Jason. Summery orange pants! Rye laid down inside watching us.
Krista, from Texas Gypsy Style, doing a live video featuring her unique painting style on the Dixie Belle Facebook page. Live from New Zealand...it's Amanda Palmer. And my August Boxy Charm box.

5 Months in Quarantine

Dress: Red Contrast Floral Fit & Flare Dress by Eva Rose (size 4x) via Gwynnie Bee
Leggings: LuLaRoe (TC2)
Sandals: Born
Earring: former Etsy shop
Necklace & Bracelets: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
This was a super weird dress...the white outlining the flowers was a puffy paint type of thing & the polyester fabric was too close to looking like a swimsuit. Also, I truly despise red, white, & blue together...unless it's 4th of July. The fit ran larger than most Eva Rose dresses, which are typically some of my favorite, but not this time.
My favorite part of this outfit was the leggings.
A little slice of yellow to break up the patriotic theme.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in LSD, Mon Ennui Cosmetics eyeshadow in Lumiere & Year of the Dragon, Santa Sangre lipstick by Kat von D, Mimosa lipstick from Bite Beauty, OPI nail polish in Blue My Mind.
Davina played a solo show on the Blue Note NYC Facebook page...she came on 15 minutes late with wet hair, no makeup & a robe...she forgot about the time change...also, she is beautiful no matter what. Then, The Glenn Crytzer Quartet played live...I've watched them on FB a few times, but the sound & picture were much better over on YouTube.
Matt DJ-ing an all Skinny Puppy night; elly's husband, Josh, has been making some tasty sounding cocktails during the pandemic...I wanted to save this one; & some 1/2 off make-up from Urban Decay.
Pretty vintage jewelry...
I am constantly pulling out my eyelashes with my curler because I use the pad too long & it splits & my lashes get stuck in there...well...no more! I ordered 200 replacement pads for $10 off Amazon. Béla Fleck & Abigail Washburn live, & a new to me band, Carolina Story, live on the Americana Music Association FB page.
Tracey showing us some fun effects...first she applied Dixie Belle Mud, then she rolled a gator texture on top of that, painted it gray, brushed on black wax, & here she is rubbing it off...I always learn something watching her work. I love when I happen to be online & catch one of Davina's brief live chats. I was sewing along...& the machine broke...Angie was kind enough to look up the part for me & it's ordered...but until then, no sewing. Also, notice the bloody spot on my finger? I was adjusting the needle because it was making noise & Rye stepped on the pedal...oops.

Plum Crazy

Dress: Watermelon Print Sigrid Dress by Effie's Heart (size 4x) via Gwynnie Bee
Leggings: Torrid (size 4x)
Sandals: Dansko
Earring: former Etsy shop
Necklace: Wendy Baker
Bracelets: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
I LOVE watermelon, so I was super excited to get this watermelon print dress from one of my favorite brands, Effie's Heart. However, it was so drab in person with the sweatpants grey background...I wish it had been a sky blue instead...to evoke summer watermelon memories. It was still fun for a wear & the fit was spot on.
I thought adding the pink necklace & watermelon leggings would brighten the outfit up a bit. Others might appreciate the subtlety of a muted watermelon dress, but not me...
I tried to make my eyeshadow look like slices of watermelon...which was a better effect in person as David noticed it without my having to say anything.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Mildew, Kat von D eyeshadow in Pink Flamingos, Cotton Candy Glimmer Shadow from Ace Beautē, trèStique Mini Highlight Stick in Maldives Luminescent, New York Apple lipstick by MAC, & unknown frosted pink polish from OPI.
I become obsessed with things...since forever. Right now I am obsessed with owning a 1970 (the year I was born) Dodge Challenger in Plum Crazy. Isn't she beautiful?!
We have made the final decision of what trims we desire for our curtains...as many as possible, of course!

Maximalism at its finest.
Fluevog sale...I can barely walk & I certainly can't walk in heels...but ooooooo, preeeetty...get in my cart! Also, I got this fabulous Indian cotton fabric on eBay...Rye approves.
Live online concerts...what is currently keeping me from going too crazy. A local band, Whiskey Farm, playing at Olbrich Gardens; Dan Rodriguez; & another great trio of artists from the Green Note...including Carsie Blanton.
Practice roman blind making...David made me a fancy edge. It's going fairly well, but I keep cutting myself with the rotary cutter. Hurting myself is my special skill.
More music, my lifeblood...The Lowest Pair & Sean Hayes. Remember that amazing mirror I bought from the fabulous Tracey from Tracey's Fancy?! She goes live every Wednesday on The Dixie Belle Facebook page...& last week she worked on my mirror!!! She painted half of it black...then gold leafed it!!! And then put leopard foil over that *swoon* The other half is going to be completely different. And completely fabulous.
David worked on the pergola last weekend...it's looking good...he stained & sealed the cedar. Dan went live for a song with his son...it was fairly adorable.
A video chat with my girlie! This is my super glamorous at home in my nightgown look. And...doggies keeping me company while I sew.

Dream A Little Dream

Dress: Graphic Tropic Maxi Dress by Kaktus (size 4x) via Gwynnie Bee
Sandals: Clarks
Jewelry: Vintage Sobral, except for...
Two Bracelets: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo, Kate, & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
I loved this dress! So many bright colors & patterns...full flowy skirt. My favorite part was the bottom colors stabbing into the black top in pointy bits. The skirt is chiffon & the top is a stretchy cotton. The fit was spot on everywhere with the exception of the armholes which gapped. There are ties underneath the skirt which lift it up (I'm wearing it that way in the first photo)...I liked it both ways.
I have a bunch of vintage Sobral jewelry I got off eBay that I've never worn...it was perfect with this outfit, don't you think?
It's been over six months since I've gotten a haircut...except for hacking at my bangs...I guess I'm growing it out.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Perversion, Sugarpill Cosmetics eyeshadow in Love+ & Buttercupcake, Russian Red lipstick by MAC, & Red Heads Ahead nail polish from OPI.
A friend recommended this song to Davina, The Good Parts, by Andy Grammer...& it called her name right away...so she went online to practice it for us. Geese crossing the street on my way out of farmers' market. Fresh sticky garlic from market...on top of salmon with crispy skin...one of my favorite meals.
I've discovered some great artists through Virtually Green Note during this pandemic...more live music from a local band, Harmonious Wail...& Fridays with Sean Hayes.
Dane County Farmers' Market on Wednesdays & Saturdays have been order ahead & pick up only this summer...but Saturday they decided to only do that from 7-9...then let people walk around...so, inevitably, there was a backup from this new process...I'm sure they'll get it figured out for next week. Then! Kate & Jason came to visit! Kate made one of our staple picnic foods...a hummus/slaw wrap...but I was too hungry to take a photo of it before it was eaten. David made us a peach basil compote for dessert.
So far away from my girlie. The outside progress on the pergola. And a new to me band, Jane Rose & The Deadend Boys, that I supported on Kickstarter to put out their next album...playing live from Nashville.
And another photo of this marvelous bass. Davina in a pretty red dotty dress...going live for a minute to promote their show later that evening. Michigan blueberries are the best...these tasted like home. And...The Vagabonds play live from their home in Minneapolis. This was such a good show...all B-sides & songs they rarely play. Her voice is amazing & she did a cover of Dream A Little Dream of Me that I adored.
