Are You Feeling Lucky?

Dress: Confetti Dot Sweetheart Faux Wrap Dress by Leota (size 4L) via Gwynnie Bee
Cardigan: Torrid (size 4x), thrifted
Tights: We Love Colors in Amethyst?
Shoes: Born
Earring: Former Etsy shop
Necklace: Wendy Baker
Bracelets: Vintage

Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
I've been wearing a lot of Leota lately. GB gets incredibly boring dresses in the winter...not much color. But Leota is always reliable...even if this dress is mostly black. I adore polka dots...& I layered dots on dots on colorful dots to brighten this outfit up. What do you think? I think I need more polka dotted shoes in my life.
While I have it covered up here...this dress has a charming sweetheart neckline...that is quite revealing, so I pinned it up for work.
I couldn't decide if these WLC tights were the amethyst or magenta...I *think* amethyst? But it's sometimes difficult to tell from their photos online.
This is my favorite Wendy Baker bubble necklace...I try not to wear it *too* often...but, it's marvelous. I chose 5 of the colors in the necklace to paint my nails.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Perversion; Violet Voss Sparkling Cherry Limeade eyeshadow palette; Dozen Carnations lipstick by MAC; OPI nail polish in Orange You Going to the Game, I Sea You Wear OPI, & Suzi & The Düsseldorfs, Aim To Misbehave nail polish from Essie, & Limeade nail polish from CND Vinylux.
As you can see...I did not wear this dress to farmers' market...I was intending to wear it later that day to see a concert with Kate...but we decided not to go. My nails were already painted fun though. I noticed on this day that you can day drink at market...either a Bloody Mary, mimosa, or beermosa from Ian's Pizza.
Shiny new things came in the mail! I've been coveting these mermaid Doc Martens for several months...& I finally took the plunge. Also, vintage bracelets & earrings. And my January Play! box.
I wore this dress to work & out to dinner with David. I had yet another delicious roasted beet & hummus sandwich from our neighbors at work...then after our long day was done...we went to Samba Brazilian Grill for dinner. It was restaurant week & David likes their hunks of meat & I enjoy their salad bar...& grilled pineapple.
More great mail that I forgot I ordered...back in December Beautylish convinced me I needed to order a Lucky Bag...I chose the Jeffree Star option. So of course I ended up with an eyeshadow palette I already own...but it was still fun. I mostly came away with things to make me shiny.
Liberals at the gun range! David & I went to shoot some targets & this nice instructor helped us not kill ourselves. I hadn't shot a gun since I was a kid & it had been decades for David as well. It was actually enjoyable...& I hit the target every time. I'm not sure I need to do it again...but it was a different experience.
My view from the table in the kitchen...we are sooooo close to having our last rooms upstairs, the dining & living room, remodeled. So exciting!

Good Morning Bedlam // Nickel & Rose

Dress: Scoop Neck Woodland Print Midi Dress by Effie's Heart (size 4x) via Gwynnie Bee
Tights: Snag in Colonel Mustard
Shoes: Naturalizer, thrifted
All Jewelry: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo, Kate, & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
I was so excited to have a cool weather Effie's Heart dress coming my way...this was my first time with this style. I rather surprisingly liked the notched neckline, but was not a fan of the ties on the sleeves or the huge oddly placed pockets. The fit, length, & twirl factor of this dress was fab. David was a fan of the color combination. I would buy this dress from the shop in the future.
I was most excited by having actual mustard tights to wear...I know I've mentioned it before...but these Snag tights are the bomb diggity.
Apparently, I am lacking in mustard or blue jewelry.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in LSD, Spiked Eggnog eyeshadow from Too Faced, Huda Beauty Coral Obsessions palette, Conspiracy lipstick by UD, Sugarpill Cosmetics lipstick in Pumpkin Spice & Give Me Space nail polish from OPI.
After vowing to not buy any new make-up this year...I received a Sephora order I had made in December...but it's not actually make-up, is it? I got some skin care from The Ordinary...I've loved everything I've ever tried from them & it is ridiculously cheap...& now that both Sephora & Ulta carry them...easy to get. I also picked up three empty magnetized palettes for some of my single eyeshadows. Also, my January Boxy Charm (which doesn't count as me buying make-up). I finally reorganized my nail polishes & had to throw some old gummy ones away...I took pictures of the ones I was hoping to replace...Music Hall Curtain Call is going for $40 on eBay & Apple of My Eye is nowhere to be found. I guess I'll have to make do with my other 500 bottles of polish.
Doctor visits...two days in a row...the first, to my dermatologist for 20+ injections to address some sores on my leg...the other one...I was so hopeful for...I got a steroid shot in my right knee, which has been terribly painful for me to walk on for months now. I had the same shot in both of my shoulders a decade ago & have been pain-free ever since. The shot improved my knee about 30% for a week...then it went back to being just as agonizing to walk on as before. Next up...deadening the nerves...but that is still about six weeks out...at least.
In much happier news...Diane & Natasha from Diane's Draperies came to visit & brought many fabric samples & books with pretty pictures for us to choose curtains for our dining & living rooms. We haven't found the perfect material for the living room yet, but we are quite pleased with our choice for the dining room.
Girlie time! Dinner at Lao Laan Xang during a freezing rain storm...
Which turned into snow by the time we walked into North Street Cabaret to see Nickel & Rose...I loved them so much last summer at The Shitty Barn. I knew I would see them again because they're a Milwaukee band...but they are moving far away...so I'm happy we were able to catch them.
 Nickel & Rose, opening for...
Good Morning Bedlam...they were so young & so energetic...
Fun bathroom graffiti where a toilet paper dispenser used to be. We had Violet's DNA done last year shortly after we got her...I was sure she had a bit of Corgi in her...but nope...100% American Staffordshire Terrier...just like Rye. We have a restaurant kitty-corner from our office, The Heights, that makes simple delicious food...& they have added a roasted beet & hummus sandwich that I can't get enough of...perfect for those times we work long days.
 Look at these cuties cuddling!

I Am Able to Swear & Make Rude Gestures at Any Odd Time

Dress: Diamond Luxe Jacquard Circle Dress by Leota (size 4L) via Gwynnie Bee
Cardigan: Torrid (size 4x), thrifted
Tights: We Love Colors in Gold
Shoes: Gap, thrifted
Earring & Necklace: Wendy Baker
Bracelets: Vintage
 Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
Two Leota Circle Dresses in a row...this one had slighter smaller/better fitting on me armholes. I love this style of dress...the fit is spot on. The textured print in white on the bright pink made this dress interesting to me. Also, I enjoy pairing yellow with pink.
I thought these were my brighter yellow tights, but by the time I realized they weren't...I was already at work.
The wind was whipping my hair all over the place.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Alkaline; Sugarpill Cosmetics eyeshadow in Buttercupcake; Totally Fetch, Cotton Candy, & Sprinkles eyeshadow from Too Faced; Bite Beauty lipstick in Cranberry; Big Bang lipstick by UD; & OPI nail polish in You're A Pisa Work.
I wore this pink & yellow outfit to go to our podiatrist with David & to work. That same day I put some gold highlights on some trim for our dining/living rooms while cleaning the closet. Also, dogs are cute...specifically Violet & Rye here...but really, all dogs.
This wonderful acceptance of a proposal was posted on my favorite facebook group, Weird Secondhand Finds That Just Need to be Shared.

Wasted: Bubbles

Dress: Chili Pepper Parquet Jacquard Circle Dress by Leota (size 4L) via Gwynnie Bee Try Then Buy
Cardigan: Charter Club Woman (size 2x), thrifted
Tights: Snag in Burgundy
Shoes: Hobbs London, thrifted
Earring & Necklace: Wendy Baker
Bracelet: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
This dress was fabulous...the pattern was spectacular & I always adore the fit on these Leota Circle Dresses. So. I bought it. After vowing not to buy any clothing or make-up in 2020. But. Cuteness & a sale won me over.
I decided to pair this frock with a pink & cream polka dot cardigan & light red with cream polka dotted shoes...both thrifted.
Zoomed in on the shoes...
In the tube, this NYX lipstick looked like a close match to the nail polish I chose...but on, it was much darker...so I dabbed a bit of the Urban Decay Fireball eyeshadow on top to lighten it up.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Alkaline, UD eyeshadow in Fireball, Huda Beauty Ruby Obsessions eyeshadow palette, Biker Babe NYX Liquid Suede, & Forever Family nail polish by Essie.
I first wore this dress to see a Sports Medicine doctor about my painful knee...I have a torn meniscus in several places & walking hurts a lot. He gave me a few non-surgical options & also let me know that if I need a knee replacement down the road...I'm too fat. So, unless I lose over 150 pounds...forget about it. I have a friend who is close to my size who had two knee replacements at The Mayo Clinic & they didn't mention her weight. So. Also, my Sephora Play! box. And while not wearing this dress...I made one of my favorite salmon recipes & after dozens of times making it...I noticed it is by Alison Roman of delicious cookie fame
Angie made this spectacular busy board for Freddie...it was fun watching him try to figure out the various latches. Then we ate yummy citrus salmon with fennel.
I wore this dress to the first indoor farmers' market of the year...at a new location. And, boy...was it packed. They were expecting 1,000 people...but 4,000 of us stormed the gates. Late winter market typically takes Kate & me 15 minutes tops...this took over an hour. There was also a trip to Batch to get bread for wine tasting later that day.
My favorites!
Perusing Lindsay's Alison Roman cookbooks...I have them both on my library list to get so I can make more of her tasty food. Her first book has the citrus salmon recipe I love so much...however, she pared it down here & it doesn't sound nearly as good.
Nibbles & bubbles...soooo many bubbles.
Dancing the Charleston, Korean beef dish Lindsay made for dinner, & the lovely couple...reunited.
