Floral Dresses in Autumn

Dresses: (left) Baroque Floral Fit & Flare by Spruce & Sage (size 30) & (right) Side Ruched Floral Mesh Dress by London Times (size 24) via Gwynnie Bee (use my link to get your first month for $10 & help me earn an extra garment for a month)
Teggings: Re/Dress
Sandals: Born
Earrings: etXarte
Floral Necklace: A Luscious Thing
Cross Necklace: Age Before Beauty
Photography: Super Boo & Me (iPhone)
I wore this purple floral dress to see a play with Super Boo. Fantastic colors & pattern, terrible fabric...typical of the first versions of the GB house brands. Awkward fit, too large on top, then tight in the waist.
I wore this gorgeous frock to work...look at that tropical bouquet...fantastic colors. This was a flattering cut...surplice neckline, empire waist, ruching. The fabric was a lovely light mesh. I may have to closet this again to wear with a cardigan.
Super Boo & I saw The Year of Magical Thinking, but it wasn't until at least 1/2 way through the performance that I realized that is what it was, & not Travesties, which we were seeing the following week & was what I brought tickets for. Had Sarah Day not said the title of the play during her dialogue I may have never caught on...oddly, we happened to have the same seats for both plays.
The sun was setting & the light was awful.
I think I'm such a floral fan because of the variety of colors you can pack into one dress.
The neckline on this had such a perfect drape.

J.D. Wilkes & The Dirt Daubers

Dress: Chloe Dress in Evening Butterflies by Cherry Velvet (3x)
Teggings: Re/Dress
Cardigan: Lane Bryant
Sandals: Born
Necklace: Age Before Beauty
Earring: etXarte
Photography: Kate & Me (iPhone & Canon Rebel)
I wore this outfit to see 2 bands at The Shitty Barn with Kate. I also wore this dress back in March to a dinner party. It was my first ever Cherry Velvet & I ended up buying it after it was retired from GB for about $20. So now it's mine...all mine!! Such pretty colors & a fun pattern. I'm not so much into butterflies, but I think I need to get a butterfly necklace to wear with this dress. Cherry Velvet dresses run big, so size down. I would have never tried this brand had it not been for GB...$200 cotton dresses with no stretch that stop a size below what I normally wear, not for me. I think Cherry Velvet is magical.
A cardigan for the crisp autumn night. I would love to find a darkish purple cardigan...I can't find one anywhere.
Kate looking like the most adorable pack mule in Cherry Velvet...she is holding my camera, purse, & cardigan. Poor put upon girlie.
I just now noticed they spelled daubers wrong on the poster...whoops.
J.D. Wilkes & The Dirt Daubers may have been my favorite band of the season. So much energy & amazing rockabilly blues! And I didn't realize J.D. is also the leading man of The Legendary Shack Shakers.
 Booty shakin' girlie!

Lake Street Dive

Dress: Twirl & Swirl Cocktail Dress in Wild Watercolor by Kiyonna (size 4x) via Gwynnie Bee (use my link to get your first month for $10 & help me earn an extra garment for a month)
Sandals: Born
Necklace & Earring: Wendy Baker
Photography: Kate & Me (Canon Rebel & iPhone)
I wore this tropical outfit to see Lake Street Dive with my girlie. I loved the fit & length of this dress...I always adore an empire waist & prefer below the knee...so this was all perfect for me. The wild watercolor print made me smile with all its happy making colors & the black mesh yolk & sleeves glammed it up a bit. In looking at these photos, I wish I would have worn black stockings & shoes to this evening event...but...there isn't snow on the ground, so I hate to give up my sandals just yet. I should have also worn a bra with clear straps as the mesh is see-through. Here's the thing...I don't actually plan out my outfits...I wait until I should be walking out the door to throw things together. I'm a procrastinator.
Kate looking precious in Kiyonna & kitty stockings from her beau.
When I first heard Lake Street Dive, I thought they were adorable...but I just couldn't get into this concert...they seemed so very country-ish live. We sat up in the balcony instead of on the floor as they had taken all the chairs away...it was actually a great view & super comfortable.
Kate splayed out on the ground to get the capitol in this photo with me.
Jewelry by the talented Ms. Wendy Baker. She is amazing.

2 Girlies in a Teapot Dress

Dress: Melody Dress in Tea Room Print by Cherry Velvet (size 3x) via Gwynnie Bee (use my link to get your first month for $10 & help me earn an extra garment for a month)
Cardigan: Avenue
Black Shoes: Ariat
Black & Cream Heels: TUK
Necklace & Bracelet: Vintage
Earring: etXarte
Photography: Super Boo & Me (Canon Rebel & iPhone)
Kate & I got this tea dress at the same time, so of course we had to get photos taken together. When this frock showed up in the GB preview I was smitten...I wrote in immediately to ask this be given priority over everything else in my closet...I *had* to have it. Then it came...& hung around my house for weeks with no occasion to wear it. Kate & I couldn't seem to find the time for a photo shoot. And honestly? I'm not sure why I was so obsessed with this dress. Don't get me wrong...it's fabulous...I adore Cherry Velvet...but...as much as I love whimsical prints, this was a bit too Holly Hobby for me. The pattern was marvelous...but I think what put it over the top for me, as in too much, were all the pink roses. Had it been purple pansies & violets *swoon*. It was great fun to wear, but once was enough for me.
I bought these heels at a garage sale for $2. I could barely walk in them, but how adorable are they??
It was a windy day at Olbrich Gardens.

Notice that Kate & I are wearing the same shoes...unplanned.

Hi, there...I notice we're wearing the same dress.

Kate had the perfect necklace for this outfit.

This bracelet was my paternal grandmother's...I've had it since I was 18. I was wearing it during a walk along the beach back when I was 20 & I flung my hand out to point at something...& into Lake Superior it flew. My wonderful friend Shane looked & looked for it...digging in the sand with his dress pants rolled up over his knees until it seemed pointless. A few hours later as we were walking back past the spot it disappeared...Shane dove his hands into the water & came out grasping my bracelet triumphantly! I'm not sure which of us was more excited. After that I had a safety chain attached to the bracelet. I think of this story & the look of happiness on Shane's face each time I wear it.

GB Test Dresses

Dresses: Country Rose Fit & Flare dress by Spruce & Sage (size 4x), Blurred Lines Shift Dress by Triste (size 4x), & another house brand shift dress I can't find the name of (size 5x)
Photography: Super Boo (Canon Rebel) & Me (iPhone)
I volunteered to be a test subject for Gwynnie Bee last month when they were about to release new fit & fabrics of their house brand dresses. It was exciting to be one of the first people to try these dresses even if they weren't garments I'd pick for myself. The fabrics have improved & I liked the fit & flare, however, shift dresses are never going to be my thing. I did like the pattern on the last dress though. I appreciated that GB reached out to their customers for feedback & that I was able to participate.
I'm pretty sure I wore one of these dresses to farmers' market on the day of the Food for Thought festival. This Pumpkin Apple Harvest Stack from Humble Pie was the BEST THING EVER. Humble Pie is located downstairs from our office & they have tasty treats. I need to check in with them this week to see if this is something they are still making. Yum.
Super Boo & I are going to try to take all of my blog photos with the Canon Rebel he got me for Christmas last year. It's going well so far!

Garage Sale-ing & Wine Tasting

Dress: Crepe Maxi Dress in Nomad's Land by Eighty Six (size 3x) via Gwynnie Bee (use my link to get your first month for $10 & help me earn an extra garment for a month)
Green Cardigan: Avenue
Orange Cardigan: Lane Bryant
Blue Sandals: Born
Metallic Sandals: Naturalizer
Necklace & Bracelet: Vintage
Earring: Babil & Bijou
Photography: Super Boo, Kate, & Me
I wore this dress 2 days in a row...it went with me to work, garage sale-ing, to the dog park, & wine tasting. This maxi has an incredible amount of stretch, I nearly sent it back without trying it on because it looked so tiny. I could live in this dress, it was soft & comfortable like a nightgown...but sexy, it showed a lot of cleavage & leg...I'm comfortable with that...I just pinned the cardigan closed for work.
There are such a variety of colors in this maxi which give so many options for accessories...I liked both cardigan/shoe combinations. I found the metallic sandals at a garage sale that day for $1.

Garage sale jackpot! Check out that magnificent vintage photo of the girl & her cow...it came with her 4H pins! And that vintage metal sink! I've been looking for one to paint & use as a flower planter ever since seeing the green one they have behind Fraboni's.
Super Boo surprised me with a bunch of Obsessive Compulsive Lip Tar...I LOVE it! The brushes are fantastic & the colors are gorgeous & it's fun to combine them to make custom creations. He's such a sweetie & always thinking about me.
Kate looking pretty in pink. She put in a We Love Colors order for tights & got me an orange pair!
Oregon wine tasting with the girlie...there was also a local photographer present with his photos of the Oregon coast on display.
The capitol at sunset, along with a lovely fountain that has a map of Madison & its lakes.
Look at all the pretty colors...

I Love Wrap Dresses

Dresses: Geneva Wrap Dress in Green Palma by Igigi (size 26/28) & Essential Wrap Dress in Red by Kiyonna (size 4x) via Gwynnie Bee (use this link to get your first month for $10 & help me earn an extra garment for a month)
Leggings: Roamans (brown & black)
Brown Sandals: Born
Black Sandals: Dansko
Leopard Cardigan: Lands End
Necklaces: Babil & Bijou
Button Earring: The Gilded Gypsies
M Earring: etXarte
Photography: Super Boo & Me (iPhone)
I wore the green dress to work on a rainy Monday & the red dress to farmers' market & crafty night at Kate's the next day. I bought the Igigi dress during their Labor Day sale as I'd been coveting the print since I first laid eyes on it. I love the fluttery sleeves & the colors in the fabric. The Kiyonna dress was lovely & a gorgeous shade of red & it was just cool enough on this day to cover up with a leopard cardigan...it's my favorite thing about the changing season...being able to layer & add more colors & patterns.
I need leopard leggings.
Droplets of rain in my hair...
Isn't this the most adorable vintage ink pen necklace?
After farmers' market, I walked over to Kate's house for our girlie crafty night (which was only the 2 of us because everyone else was sick)...it is amazing the details you miss when you drive. I never noticed my neighbors had such lovely flowers in their yard...or a little library.
I found these vintage cat eye glasses that I've had since high school,  they looked better on Kate.
