Hump! Film Fest

Dress: I'm Plaidered Skater Dress from Society+ (size 26/28)
Cardigan: Designers Originals (size 3x), thrifted
Tights: Catherines
Boots: Steve Madden
Earring: Kerala Rose
Necklace: Age Before Beauty
Bracelet: Wendy Baker
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
It's over 90° outside & I'm wearing boots?! I'm a month behind in my outfit posts...& just a month ago it snowed here in Madison for the last time. Crazy spring.

This plaid dress from Society+ is ridiculously amazing. I bought it in January 2017 & finally got around to wearing it. The fabric is heavy & luxurious with a nice stretch...a substantial dress you'd only want to wear in cooler months. It's perfect in every way. I have a few other things I've bought from them & they've all been high quality garments.
Check out this 80s Dynasty jacket...I couldn't resist wearing the two purple plaids together.

My makeup with this outfit included Urban Decay eyeliner in Delinquent; Hoodoo, Freakshow, Last Sin, & Chase eyeshadow from UD; UD lipstick in Voodoo & Speedball; & Grape Gum Vinylux nail polish by CND.
I did not wear this dress to the first outdoor farmers' market of the season, however, since it was on the same day...I wanted to share...miserable, cold, rained on, sleeted on girlies determined to market no matter what.

Also, a small make-up purchase made during an Ulta 20% off sale. I have so much makeup that I skipped Sephora's spring sale altogether the following week.
I wore this dress to go to Dan Savage's 13th Annual Hump! Film Festival with David. The weather only got worse as the day went on & by evening it was snowing & awful out. I am a total freak about getting to venues early so I get a close seat...doors were at 6, so normally I'd like to get there no later than 5:30...but because of the weather, I didn't feel like waiting outside...so David dropped me off at a bit after 6 & I was the third person in the theater...so I panicked for naught. This film fest gets better every year...I love it.

Film Fest, Fin

Dress: Purple Paisley Printed 40s Dress by Scarlett & Jo (size 28)
Cardigan: MAK (size 4x)
Tights: We Love Colors in Royal
Shoes: Clarks, thrifted
Earring: eBay
Necklace: Babil & Bijou (former etsy shop)
Button Bracelet: Allie's Adornments
Bakelite Bracelets: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
This is the final dress of the 5 I ordered from Scarlett & Jo last year...all of which I am in love with...with the exception of the very first dress I tried...which I HATED. The colors & pattern of this 40s inspired dress were my favorite...especially the dots of yellow that I tried to bring out more with my cardigan. The fit, flow, & length of this dress were just right, but I could have done without the back tie...& I cut out the shoulder pads.
This frock has pretty fluttery angel sleeves under the sweater (that I forgot to take off).
These shoes were a fabulous Milwaukee thrift store find...one of my rare non-Savers scores.
My makeup with this outfit included...NYX eyeliner in Deep Blue; Urban Decay eyeshadow in Alchemy, Bondage, Last Sin, & Bobby Dazzle; Dubonnet Amplified lipstick from MAC; & Shearling Darling nail polish by Essie.
I wore this outfit on days 6 & 8 of the film fest, ate dinner between films, & saw one last new trailer. I saw 9/12 of the trailers...so I really only missed 2 since the opening night one was live...& I think one was shown only at kids movies...how did I miss one?! All the trailers are online...this is mostly for me so I remember to watch them later to see what I missed.
We got our refrigerator & freezer doors back...they turned out beautifully!

I got a bunch of leggings from Torrid...which I never took pictures of...but the ones I was most excited by are LEMONS...similar to this photo I found online of a lemon jumpsuit. Also, this pattern mixed dress & orange plaid leggings from ASOS. Orange plaid. OMG.

More Movies

Dress: Jersey Wrap Dress in Leaf Print by Vicky Tiel (size 2x) via Gwynnie Bee Shop
Cardigan: Avenue (size 26/28), thrifted
Tights: We Love Colors in Violet
Shoes: Aldo, thrifted
Earring: eBay
Necklace: Wendy Baker
Bracelets: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
I bought this dress for $20 from the GB Shop shortly after I returned the one I rented from them. I last wore it over 4 years ago, back when David & I were taking Tai Chi classes. These bright colors make me happy. This is a true wrap dress & it runs big...I rented it in a 3x, but purchased in a 2x because there was so much extra fabric. Did you check out the pictures of me when I wore this dress the first time? I think my style & David's photography skills have come a long way in 4 years.
Aren't these cut-out shoes fabulous? I found them, along with some similar chunkier Doc Martens, at Savers for super cheap. RIP Madison Savers.
Also, my first time wearing this amazingly technicolor dream necklace from the divine Ms. W.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Delinquent; Kat von D eyeshadow in Echo, Vinyl, Legend, & Fran; "O" lipstick by MAC; NYX Liquid Suede in Amethyst; & OPI nail polish in Do You Have This Color in Stock-holm?
I wore this dress to days 5 & 7 of the WI Film Fest...& to pick out the perfect orange sparkly paint for our fridge & freezer...sooo many choices! My favorite movies on these days were both documentaries...Minding the Gap (film maker & subjects pictured below at a talk after the film) & RBG (which is out in theaters now)...I knew Ruth was astonishing...but I had no idea.

Turn the Lights Down Low

Dress: Bell Sleeve Green Floral Fit & Flare Dress by Jessica Howard (size 24) via Gwynnie Bee (use my link to get your first month free & help me earn GB credit)
Tights: We Love Colors in Royal
Shoes: ?, thrifted
Earring: etXarte
Necklace & Bracelet: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
Stunning color combination...what a spectacular spring green,  great fit & flare shape, & dramatic sleeves were the things I was smitten with in this frock. However, I felt the fabric was incredibly thick & was too big, as well as boxy, on top...the bottom fit well. I wore this dress to the film fest for part of day 3 & on day 4.
The only time we had to take photos between movies was at 12:30...so the sun was directly overhead...which makes for lots of unflattering shadows...plus it was windy...but it's what we had to work with.
Green was my favorite color for a long time, so I've got an extraordinary amount of green jewelry that I rarely get to wear anymore, so it was nice to break out this gorgeous vintage necklace.
My make-up with this outfit included...Abyss eyeliner by Urban Decay; Deep Blue eyeliner from NYX; UD eyeshadow in Dragon, Freeze, & Bobby Dazzle; Bite Beauty lipstick in Spiced Plum; & China Glaze nail polish in Blue Sparrow.
The no seat holding rule was new this year...& I don't like change. I see a lot of movies & when I'm fortunate enough to see two back to back in the same theater...it was nice to leave a coat behind to save seats for the next show. I saw three new trailers...& my favorite movie was Hal, a documentary about Hal Ashby...the director of Harold & Maude, Being There, & other 70s classics.

20th Annual Wisconsin Film Festival

Dress: Cross Front 40's Dress in Blue Medallion by Scarlett & Jo (size 28)
Cardigan: ?, thrifted
Tights: We Love Colors in Royal
Shoes: ?, thrifted
Earring: etXarte
Necklace & Bracelet: Babil & Bijou, former etsy shop
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
This is dress #4 of the 5 dresses I bought last year from Scarlett & Jo...super comfortable & cute...everything you want in a casual dress. Great fit & length...this dress was perfectly lovely in every way...but it had shoulder pads that I forgot to cut out...ooops. Why shoulder pads?!
I was rather proud of my matching color pattern mixing with this cardigan.
This dress is light enough to wear all year round...I can see it with teggings & sandals in the summer.
I never got around to taking photos of my make-up with this outfit...although I wish I knew what lipstick I was wearing here because I love it.
I wore this dress to days 2 & 3 of the Wisconsin Film Fest (there is only 1 movie on the first day & it wasn't something I was interested in). The Guilty was my favorite film on Friday...Saturday's was Lots of Kids, A Monkey, & A Castle. Festival Coordinator, Ben, shows us how to use the film fest blanket to text during the movies. Aren't those women's dresses adorable?
Savers was having a 50% off sale on Saturday...so David & I rushed there before the movies began. This was my last time shopping at Savers before finding out they are closing in Madison on May 19th. I nearly cried when Angie texted me this news. Where will I find cashmere cardigans for $4.50?!
I had enough time to stop by Underground Butcher & grab a breakfast sandwich...they'd only been open an hour...but they were sold out of bagels already...English muffins just aren't as tasty.

Each year the film fest has a trailer they show before every movie...this year they did something different...they had 12 local bands perform a song Ben wrote several years back for the trailer, putting their own spin on it, so there was the excitement every time of what trailer you would see...instead of dreading having to watch the same one 20+ times. I took photos of them so I could keep track of which ones I'd seen.

Kate & I having lunch at the Great Dane between movies.

Green & Blue Leaves

Dress: Leaf Print Fit & Flare Matte Jersey Dress by London Times (size 3x) via Gwynnie Bee (use my link to get your first month free & help me earn GB credit)
Cardigan: Lane Bryant (size 22/24), thrifted
Tights: We Love Colors in Scout Green
Shoes: Born
Earring, Necklace, & Bracelet: Wendy Baker
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
I simply adored the colors & print of this dress...however, it had the worst static cling problem...to be fair, it was probably the weather & not the dress. It was a bit short for my taste & this new sizing from London Times (3x instead of a 24) fits me more snuggly than their old sizing. After all that complaining...it was still a cute dress, but because of the shortness, I only wore it once.
The color combination...various greens & teal leaves on a dark navy background...was stunning. And this was my first time wearing these Scout Green tights from We Love Colors.
I wore this dress to work, where I sit...so the shortness did not make me feel self-conscious. I'm sure I ran errands or something as well...but I haven't been as good about taking pictures of anything other than our house remodel...which is why I'm such a terrible blogger at the moment.
My makeup with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Junkie; UD eyeshadow in Backfire, Fringe, Alter, & Sinful; "O" lipstick from MAC; & Stay Off the Lawn nail polish by OPI.

Caravan Gypsy Swing Ensemble

Dress: Cutout Navy Floral Fit & Flare Dress by Gabby Skye (size 24) via Gwynnie Bee (use my link to get your first month free & help me earn GB credit)
Cardigan: Jessica Howard (size 24)
Shoes: Me Too, thrifted
Earring, Necklace, & Bracelet: Wendy Baker
Photography: Super Boo, Kate, & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
This was a fabulous frock that I nearly bought...but I don't need any more clothes unless they are unlike anything I already own...& I have an abundance of floral dresses...but if it shows up in the shop cheap... This textured fit & flare was fun to wear...such vibrant colors, adorable cutouts, great length, fantastic fit...I don't have anything negative to share.
This was an extremely windy day...but there are often fun shots that come out of being blown around.
I bought this cropped lime cardigan from GB the first year I was a member for $18 brand new. I didn't have any cardigans that color back then...before I discovered Savers.
My makeup with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Mars; Kat von D eyeshadow in Vinyl, Legend, Fran, & Swoon; Winterberry lipstick by Bite Beauty; & My Gecko Does Tricks nail polish from OPI.
I wore this dress to work & to see a band at North Street Cabaret with Kate & Jason. The last time we were here, they were revamping their menu...so this was the first time trying their food...it was quite impressive...my chips were warm & made in house & the guacamole was some of the best I've ever had.
Caravan Gypsy Swing Ensemble was wonderful...they play a lot of Django Reinhardt type music that I adore & this venue is wonderful...the sound is great & I can sit at a table right next to the stage...perfection.
