I wore this Juliet dress everywhere...to work, out to eat several times, & to various farmers' markets (although I only put make-up on the day we took these photos on our way to work, other days, naked face). It is such an easy comfortable dress to throw on...I also own it in blueberry. I bought this dress a while back, but my own clothes get ignored while I wear GB...so I was happy to finally wear it out. I adore the empire waistline & soft pettable jersey fabric. Also, purple! I found all of these marvelous treasures at one garage sale! I was in heaven! I am going to use the vintage quilt as a tablecloth for picnics.
I collect old photographs of weddings...I like to imagine how they met & what their lives were like. This particular collection started after my paternal grandmother died & I inherited photographs of her wedding to my grandpa, as well as from her first wedding...that husband died in WWII.
Kate & I skipped a rather rainy (there were at least several drops!) Saturday market to have brunch instead. We tried a new-to-us place, Oliver's. The drinks were spectacular! The girlie had a Thyme Traveler (thyme infused vodka, grapefruit, & salt), while I tried a Rose Nyland Fizz (gin, Thai rose/rhubarb syrup, cava, & lemon). My Eggs Benedict with house made muffins were lovely, but I was disappointed in the not nearly crispy enough rösti potatoes.
These London Times blouson dresses from GB look fabulous on Kate...
The much more manageable Sunday market. Fun all female band, Prairie Bayou Cajun Band & free sweet corn boil.
After market, Kate showed me a pretty nature area she likes to walk & we wandered on the trail for a bit.
My make-up with this dress included...Sugarpill's Buttercupcake eyeshadow, Purple Tang eyeliner by Stila, a mixture of UD Ladyflower & Bite Beauty Burgundy on my lips, & Woodstock nail polish from Colors by Llarowe.
I'm taking part in Leah's Outfit August (since this is the first outfit I've worn this month out of my own closet, this is my first time). Check out her fabulous blog to see her outfit's & links to the other lovely ladies taking part. On Instagram, look for #outfitaugust2015 for more photos.
Aren't old photos fascinating? I have a heap and tend to ponder who they are and their lives. I like to guess the age of the photo from the clothes. You can even tell social/economic status from a lot too, esp wedding photos.
ReplyDeleteI love this dress, though eggplant is not my friend usually its such a pretty colour!
Thank you, Yvonne (I know, its been so long you forgot you commented ;))!
DeleteI love old photos so much, I love to give them stories & think about their lives.
I just wanted to say that I find you fascinating. I found your blog from looking at comments on Gwynnie Bee, and I've been scrolling through it all morning. No kidding, you have the confidence, the artistic sense, and the lifestyle I somewhat envy. I also love that you collect vintage marriage photos. Thank you for this blog, and I hope you don't mind, but I will be following this blog from now on!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you! And thank you for commenting, I LOVE that...though I am *terrible* at responding. Feel free to follow me on Facebook, Instagram (the_muffin_queens_closet), & join my Facebook group, The Girls of GB...we are a fun group of women who share photos of our GB outfits & complain about GB's slow shipping ;)
