I had no idea what I was going to wear NYE...until the day of. I knew I could shop my closet & find something appropriate that I'd never worn...& this beauty is the first thing that caught my eye. I had just gotten it for 1/2 off during a Black Friday sale from Torrid. I am in LOVE...green & leopard?! Totally fetching. Before orange was my favorite color, there was green. So, I have a lot of green jewelry that doesn't get worn so much any longer.
The fit on this dress was divine...the stretch velvet was both comfortable & luxurious. I was pleased with the cold shoulder peek-a-boo tattoo & the back cut out. Also, David & I had taken a few weeks off from work & after lounging about in tattered dresses for nearly two weeks...I was excited to wear something pretty.
I had picked these sequin shoes up at Savers for a few $$ years ago & this was my first time wearing them...I nearly went with black sparkly shoes instead...but I liked the green & gold I had going on with the jewelry & tights...I didn't want anything too dark.
My make-up with this outfit included...Urban Decay eyeliner in Overdrive, UD eyeshadow in Stargazer, Chamellionaire eyeshadow by Sydney Grace, "O" lipstick from MAC (with Stargazer on top), China Glaze nail polish in Sleigh Ride, & Glitter All The Way nail polish by OPI. The necklace & earring are by my favorite jewelry designer, Miriam Haskell.
Kate & Me with the crescent moon over the capital...
Dining with my girlie at Harvest. This evening was all about the marvelous company & not the food. The food was mostly bland & horrible. It started out with an amuse bouche that I believe we were told was pomegranate seeds with a grapefruit gel...the taste reminded me of when I was a little girl & had a doll called Baby Alive. She came with a powdered mix you added water to & she "ate" it. My meal did not get any better. My soup, potato rosemary leek, was flavorless...like baby food without any salt or seasoning. I felt like they had boiled potatoes in water & blended them in the pot with the water & olive oil. Rosemary is a strong flavor & there wasn't a hint of it. The ladies next to us sent theirs back.
Kate lucked out & ordered salmon that was perfectly cooked & delightfully delicious. I never order salmon out because I prefer it rare & it's nearly always overcooked at restaurants. It was the only standout dish of the night. I had black garlic gnocchi with roasted squash that was gummy & again, lacked any seasoning. But look at my charming dinner companion...she's wearing a necklace I made for her a decade or so ago.
My Prosecco was non-offensive & the chocolate tart was fine...I've had better from the Costco bakery. Kate later asked me why I'd chosen this evening to become midwestern (& not complain)...after thinking about it...I realized it was because I had not been expecting much. Kate assures me we've had a good meal here, but I was dubious...& after this experience...I won't be back. My vote for the evening had been for L'Etoile. But...many wonderful meals will be had in 2020.
January 1st...happy anniversary to David & Me. We stayed home & wore our pajamas all day.
We popped open a bottle of champagne in my office.
And David made us a simple, but lovely, meal...lobster tail, prime rib, & roasted sweet potatoes.

  1. Happy New Year! You look incredible in that green dress - green + leopard is a big YES in my book! I appreciate the details in your outfit, from the lovely jewelry (sparkly!) to the gold shoes (I agree, the right call). I love your funky haircut too! And don't you love a dress that shows a little sexy ink??

I have MAC "O" as well - I laughed when I saw that, as I'm wearing it today!

Thank you so much for visiting my blog! I love your style< Meshel!
